    A Star wheel dresser will help you to dress it flat once you have it mounted and driveable. Or maybe use the side of an old diamond cutting disc (4") to smooth the surface while it's spinning.

    I got myself a Night Cat hammock off ebay very comfortable nights sleep, integral mossie net and Rain proof roof. Underblacket outside is a good idea or foam mat/air mattress inside - stops mossies biting through and heat transfer. Youtube reviews are good. I'm a side sleeper .....best nights...

    If you can find someone with a dry grit blaster that will clean all the corrosion pits and if you paint it straight away they will be sealed up and won't carry on growing. You can then continue buffing up the outside some more.

    Would taking a tarp (4mx4m) keep your tent dry, give you a dry patch to work under if you were in the woods. ???
