    Sooty from Scotland

Hi Sooty, I've only recently discovered the magic of the sewing machine and to date all I've managed to make is a oil skin poncho, a tailored barbour Beaufort and several haversack, but I would love to make my own ventile gear, as I, like you, spend a lot of time in the mountains climbing and...

    Ex Military Beware

So the young uns and the incomes won't fight for the country so now they expect us to? If we're invaded (and that's open to dispute we aren't being already) I'd definitely fight but this lot can go whistle.

    Wanted Leatherman?

Not sure, I should also point out the second serrated blade is now a straight edge. Don't know if that matters or not. Does £50 including postage sound reasonable?

Bushcraft and homesteading skills in WW3

Like Chris my bushcraft skills would potentially be limited to cam and concealment and I bit of nav while I found myself a hill to die on.

Dartmoor and Me: How My Kit Held Up

Totally agree with you. My wife is a mountain leader and she uses them a lot... Interestingly she says the Americans have a additional bag that can be filled with water to heat it but I've never seen one.

    Epiphany

Blimey, where do I start? In the 40 odd years I've been playing bushcraft I think I've had so many "why did I buy this" moments over kit recommended by others whether friends, influences (YouTube) or so called gurus. Wasn't until about 15 years ago I realised that all kit is personal. What...

    Bushcraft survival wilderness living books

Thanks Chris, that is a very comprehensive list and will take some time to dissect, I already see a few old friends in there.

    Bushcraft survival wilderness living books

Are there any new books on the market worth reading? Any bushcraft or survival manuals that aren't just a rehash of a rehash of some 1940's military survival guide? Or, and I'm more hopeful here, any books about wilderness living, doesn't need to be a manual, in fact a good true left story...

What is wrong with UK police?!

It's the new police tactic, arrest him, ruin his life, then drop all charges... In the mean time it stops everyone doing the same, mass fear without filling prisons!! Just a shame they can't apply the same rule to all the Afghans et el coming from countries where AK47s are given out like...

    Poncho liner

It's better than the USA one... Fitted to a poncho it has a small overlap to stop cold spots... Reason I say that is I use mine Ranger roll style as a light weight sleep system in summer (can be damp due to body convection) in the morning. Warmth wise I'd say it's equal or just slightly cooler...

    New Stainless Peltonen M07

I have a m95, had it at 20 years and it's still going strong. Personally I would happily trade or bin all my other knives except that one as I believe, if ****, that would be the one knife I could stake my life on.
