    Oiling my axe handle

When applying the linseed, could I use a heat gun to heat the oil and handle, to try and get the oil to impregnate deeper?

    Oiling my axe handle

Yes it is, it's my pack axe. Thanks Oliver It's not brand-new but it is fairly new, though it came in not brilliant condition - Bone dry and with lots of fibres (Some fine and hairy, others tougher and more splinter-like) and could've done with a twice-over with some fine sand paper. Thanks...

    Oiling my axe handle

@Oliver G @Mesquite Should I go over the handle with a very fine sandpaper before oiling?

    Oiling my axe handle

Thanks guys. Oliver, I'd not thought of that mainly because I was intending to remove the head (It's a tomahawk, head merely has a friction-fit) to get the entire handle, though I guess there's no harm in missing under the head - If tens-of-thousands of axes the world over can survive not being...

It's a shame, as it's my first Mora and the blade itself is of great quality and, functionally, it is a great little knife and perfect...

    Forced patina questions - rust?!?

Perfect reply, thanks Janne. Aye a "classic", red painted birch handle. Lovely little knife for an also very little amounts of money! Potato method? And does it have to be white vinegar, or will malt work?

    Forced patina questions - rust?!?

Good of you to mention the gun oil. I do have some actually, never occured to use it! To clean it up, shall I just take some white vinegar and wire wool to it?

    Forced patina questions - rust?!?

Afternoon guys, hope all's well, never member here. I did a forced mustard (wholegrain Dijon, if you're wondering...) patina on my Mora 102 yesterday evening. I left it to sit for perhaps 30 minutes and it came out quite nice, apart from one little thing I noticed... I wiped all the mustard...
