National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

Paper is the only way I can see it not being a whole lot more trouble than it's worth. Perhaps an exercise in seeing how many of those involved they can actually contact? If they actually put old boots on training grounds, there will be a Channel 4 documentary about it within a month.

    U-Turn in waiting there.

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

I would, if we had one! NI has EPGs, Emergency Planning Groups which are executive/senior civil service QUANGOs to all intents and purposes. Public input is so limited as to be virtually non existent. I believe they once asked farmers in the border counties their opinions about localised flooding.

    Limited Canned Goods.

The Grant's one is surprisingly good. It would be an exaggeration to say you can't tell it's tinned but it's close, especially if you're making it into something, like haggis pakora. :p

    FlexiStove

I still have mine and I don't understand why they didn't catch on, because they're great. With that said, I still travel with my Crusader!

    The Great Kilt

Exactly how breezy the pre military dress kilt was is open to debate! Someone I respect said something to the effect of "Highlanders were tough but not stupid" in regard of whether or not there was anything worn beneath the kilt.

Sold Air Rifle - Weihrauch HW97K

If these weren't on ticket here (and Stlh374 wasn't in there already) I'd have this. Superb little rifles. I had a well uprated (all air weapons are FAC here, no point in staying 12 ft lb ) HW 80, break barrel for years. I probably potted more woodies with it than any other arm I've ever owned.

    The Great Kilt

And historic military uniforms. Some of merchants concerned actually do a reasonably good job, others not so much. Some are good at some items, and dire at others. Sometimes it just depends on who's at the sewing machine that day. If you're the sort of person who isn't adverse to the odd trip to...

    Worst witnessed Bushcraft injury.

Yes & yes. There was little good to be said about growing up in NI at that time, but one thing that you could say was that if you had accident or incident that resulted in burns, GSW or traumatic amputation you had the most practiced and skilled medical staff in those specialties at hand. He...

    Worst witnessed Bushcraft injury.

Finger amputation via machete. Actually at a cadet "initiative" exercise way back in the early Eighties. Building a bridge over carnivorous tadpole infested waters. I'll never forget it - "ONE, I've cut my ****** finger off" "There's a wee yellow pouch on the top of my bergan, has pads and...

Yes. And I'm not sure that's a good thing!

A surprisingly large number. If you think more along the lines of a reversion to early industrialisation, rather than going all the way back to being hunter gatherers, a lot of the skills & technologies are still out there.

National Risk Register/National Resilience Update - Nothing new to us.

I doubt it would have much impact, certainly not the degree that War Game, Threads etc had. There's a fairly widespread consensus, in the prepping community as well as the wider population, that a major nuclear exchange just means staying in the basement for a fortnight and then coming out to a...

It also needs to adopt some sort of security to lock out rogue nodes, which is at odds with the "come one, come all" philosophy it's operated on to date.

It's a technology that interests me from the nerd POV but, and this is an important factor, I cannot for the life of me think what I would actually use it for! I've vague notions that I might be able run a packet BBS, but in all honesty the number of people likely to be interested is so...

    Emergency signalling

Most of the analogue FM Baofeng radios available on Chinese sites will give you marine Ch. 16. MRTs are largely digital these days. As a caveat, using one on that frequency outside of a genuine life or death emergency is likely to put you in as much legal difficulty as the smoke/flare. Edit -...
