Thanks a lot Just found out its probably for a 1886 model Winchester which used a 0.458 inch bullet ( the OD of the tube measures 0.458" ) According to Wikipedia the Royal Flying Corps in WW1 bought 1886 model Winchesters chambered for the .45 bullet Cheers
