Just found out its probably for a 1886 model Winchester which used a 0.458 inch bullet ( the OD of the tube measures 0.458" )
According to Wikipedia the Royal Flying Corps in WW1 bought 1886 model Winchesters chambered for the .45 bullet

Can anybody identify what this is ?
Its stamped with a small arrow which I believe makes it military
We though maybe it was some sort of navigation tool or mini periscope type of thing
Its got us stumped
Any ideas?
