Auctioning a Winter Moot ticket for Charity

I am not quite sure where to post this - so I am posting it here! :) One of BcUKs Full Members very wisely bought a ticket to the forthcoming Winter Moot (https://www.bushmoot.com/tickets/winter-moot) but has found that they will be unable to attend (poor soul - what an event to miss!) and so...

    Haversack/Day bag

I found a mint condition 1937 pattern British Army "Small Pack" haversack in a Charity Shop for about a fiver - unrivaled value for money! I also use a DD bumbag thing that comes with their rucksack very comfortable for less bulky loads.

    Any one snow camping?

Back in my youth I did a fair bit of "Snow Holing" up in the Scottish mountains - by far the best way to camp in the snow :) I have also camped in the snow in tents, bivis and under tarps and await a decent fall of snow to get out in the white stuff again ... but no useful snow has fallen here...

    Beeswax

I make my own Dubbin, leather polish, leather balm and wood polish using beeswax, and it is a big component of my "Iron Age" glue. It is also a large part of fabric wax (think "Greenland" wax...) I scored a couple of buckets worth (unrefined) for next to nothing. Along with resin you can use the...

    Outstanding Goals/experiences for 2024

Five or so years ago I was told that I needed new hips and knees - took myself off the list after I found that losing 7 1/2 stone in weight and doing 3-4 hours physio exercise per day (plus trying to walk a minimum of 3 miles a day) keeps me out of pain. I am too old to recover from all that...

    Modern day Billhook

I have been using mine today, harvesting polled Ash poles for firewood and "projects" - the ideal tool :)

    Alternatives to ventile?

I have no experience of that range but I did once get a very good "mystery" dry waxed, tight woven cotton/cotton blend fabric off a market stall ... it was very good but I have not mentioned it before as I have no idea what it was! Some of that range look very interesting - but the more...

Machine wash at 40 with non bio eco soap if they are really bad :)

    Alternatives to ventile?

For cheap and basic - I have a Highlander waterproof breathable synthetic fabric suit: it works to keep me dry, looks like a sack that fits where it touches and is noisy, has badly placed and overly small pockets , for my taste ... but it does a job.... at a low price.... It comes no where near...

    Alternatives to ventile?

Goretex - expanded PTFE (plumbers thread sealing tape in is most commonly found form) soon to be replaced with polyethylene ....105 degrees C melting point .... :)
