Why is Ray mears woodlore gear so expensive?

At least Ray Mears is selling quality equipment. If you believe it is overpriced or not is a different matter. However Bear Grylls is simply selling branded landfill. I doubt anyone who's serious about the outdoors will go near his stuff, but my nephew (10) is obsessed with him. As I'm sure many...

Why is Ray mears woodlore gear so expensive?

Much of the 'other branded' gear on the Ray Mears shop is fairly competitive. As for his own branded kit, well I bought the laplander leather sheath because I haven't seen a better one. I can't comment on any of his other items. It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and, in my opinion, worth...

    Chemicals in water

    Chemicals in water

I wonder if anyone has any thoughts about the dangers of chemicals in collected water. So there are a variety of methods to filter or neutralise bacteria in water but these don't filter out chemical contaminants. Most of my wild camping is near farmland. There is most definitely large amounts of...

Ray Mears Fundamental Bushcraft course - some advice sought

Hi all, my first post, so I hope you don't mind me jumping straight in. I just returned from the course on Sunday so can give some fairly 'fresh' advice. First of all it was an incredible experience and although very hard work, extremely rewarding. As mentioned, there are ticks in the area...
