    I did some thing similar a few years ago for canoeing, to attach dry bags. Have a look around second hand shops, I bought a 70/80’s rucksack, external frame and removed the old sack park, cost an eye watering £3!

    I was shown a trick nearly fifty years ago and use to this day, a rolled up news paper or card board box, again rolled up. Cheap and disposable too, easiest way to blunt an edge, cut card board so logic, it will give you a very sharp stropped edge! Simples.

    Original karrimor KSB boots, had mine 20 years, so comfortable, like gloves. Wore them to Manchu pichu, Everest base camp and several other treks. These things never let me down and never a blister, the new ones, I’ll keep my comments on that to myself!!!!

    Gerber 600 multi tool, SAK soldier (re-ground serrated edge to fine), depending on what I’m doing Rory Connor custom or Mike Morris camp knife. Always a mora clipper in the rucksack!
