    Bedroll

Are... those actually any different to my jungle compression sack? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jungle-Sleeping-Bag-Issue-Compression-Sack-Grade-1-/161004294769#vi-content

    Bedroll

Hey RG. I stopped using the compression sack because it forms an awkward bundle rather than being sas-packed into the bottom of the bag. I might look at a waterproof, elongated compression sack next. Anyone know of a good one?

    Basic Bushcraft Fishing pt 1

Hey buddy, old post I know but any chance of a description on how to successfully tickle?

    Bedroll

Thanks guys, I did lightweight backpacking but moved on to more of a leather and canvas mentality since taking up bushcrafting. I like the idea of being able to make or mend anything I take with me in the field using wax thread and a needle instead of bonding agents, although that obviously...

    Bedroll

Hey Mike, I used to do the same but with a change of clothes that would already be most of the space in the pack. The sleeping system is a bit on the bulky side, but works better than most commercial bags.

    Bedroll

I use a Norwegian Telemark pack, since it straps down according to the size of the load (anything from 30 - 60 litres) and the sleeping bag is soldier 95.

    Bedroll

Hey guys, Anyone got any advice on how to minimise the size of a bedroll? I pack a bivvi, modern british army sleeping bag and liner and a cut down rollmat. This still makes up about 70% of my pack, and I feel a bit of a berk going off for a weekend in the woods and looking like I'm trekking...

permanently moving to the woods and back to nature.

I used to live in that area, over in Dudley... I spent a lot of my time thinking about fleeing into the woods as well:rolleyes:

Hell, if not we should go occupy a forest someplace anyway!

    Axe gallery!

Purely from an educational perspective, what do you guys use hawks for? I always felt a good camp axe or hatchet would outperform one, but they are clearly popular.

Another Reading boy here, is this still going on?

Article: The Importance of Traditional Woodcraft Skills

I think quite a few people share this idea. The trick would be to just not tell anyone that you are doing it. Sounds dodgy maybe, but I don't think anyone is going to tell you that people cannot camp on your land with permission and besides, who is going to enforce that?

VERY long shot, but... got any left?

    New Drinksafe waterbag

I think I might need to get me one of these, unless someone has since found something better?

Keeping a lid on it :)

Oh right, I didn't realise it folds flat. In that case it should certainly do the job as long as I put the handle face down into the bottom of the pouch. With the handle fixed, I guess that is another piece I don't have to worry about losing :)

Keeping a lid on it :)

Because I tend to keep my crusader cup under my water bottle, and the lid flat under that in a webbing-pouch. The handle can then be tucked away someplace safe and out of the way.

    Vietnamese Coffee Filter

If you are going to be making coffee from finely grounds like the Vietnamese, I would use a Turkish cezve like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turkish-Copper-Coffee-Pot-/170675555648?pt=Coffee_Machines_Makers&hash=item27bd0e4d40#ht_500wt_949. It takes up less room and I have never complained...

Keeping a lid on it :)

Wow, that is so much better than the one I made  Let me know if you make one with a removeable handle at some point.

    Can anyone else smell it?

I have been picking up on that as well :) There has been more rain and windy weather, the evenings are drawing in (only half past nine and it's dark out) and the days are cooling. Also, wild berries are starting to ripen :D
