    Backpacking with dogs

hey all :) We are going on a 5-6 day hiking trip in october with our dog (1 1/2 years old) . I wanted to know, if I should be worried about her drinking from streams and lakes? we'll put filtered/boiled water in her bowl, but it's likely that while hiking she'll take a drink from a stream...

    Some odd hardy tool

Thanks guys! All the opinions are interesting. I might add that the set of tools came from the same smith and it had a turning fork, so that makes turning an odd guess... I may find a use for it some time, which will become it's new use ;)

    Where to get Briar Root?

Anyone know where to get some big pieces, enough for a stick tang/full tang? (I know Brisa has some, but I'm NOT paying the shipping from Finland to california! :p) I see a lot of pipe blanks, etc... And I can get quite a few spacers, off of ebay, etc Thanks

Is X cut wood OK for knife handles

Hmm. I guess since it's not really strong, I could use it for a little knife like a puukko or a bird n trout... not that big machete eh :D

Is X cut wood OK for knife handles

As the title says. I recently got some 'birdseye maple' which contained no birdseyes, but lots of spalting, so is ok  But it is cross cut, I was wondering if it is OK for knife handles? It is a block, so it may be a stick tang or scales. Thanks Mitch

    Mora 840MG Review

Okay, so not all of us have our own TV show and can afford a 400+ dollar (£450) knife *coughRAYMEARScough* so a bushcraft knife which is around $10 (round £6) is pretty damn cool, considering most knives around that price haven't even been tempered The Mora however, preforms as well and out...
