    For Bivi Bag Virgins!

Whenever I use a bivvy bag I only get into it if it's going to or is raining, or it's a bit cold and I want some extra warmth. Otherwise I'll sleep on top of it, using it as a ground sheet but you can still get into it quickly if it rains. This way you don't get any condensation or a damp...

    Telescopic fishing rods

Just bought a 7 foot telescopic rod complete with reel and a selection of hooks, a float, spinner etc. It was a Fladen Tracker fishing kit from www.tacklebargins.co.uk. They have a big selection of stuff. Not fished since I was a kid, but the kit looks ok for begining fishing again. I wanted a...

    Gas Guzzlers

Just going to add my bit about 4x4's. My Landrover 110 does 31mpg, just worked it out over the last 700 odd miles. Many smaller vehicles do worse than that; a friends motorbike does about the same, he just gets places a lot quicker! The Landy is 10 years old and will still be going strong in...

    Mors kochanski flip flop winch

Just used two pencils and a bit of string to winch a hole punch across my desk! It is so simple when you see it working :) Thank you for showing me a simple technique that could come in handy one day.

    offa's dyke, wales

I did this LDP with some friends about fifteen years ago. It took us 12 and a bit days to do, but 10 days or less would be possible. Finding campsites in the right places was a bit of a problem; we wild camped on quite a few occasions. If you are out of sight and quiet, putting a tent up in a...

    westwinds cairngorm jacket, mini review

I have one of these jackets and I love it! It's been mostly used for hill walking in Scotland and has performed very well in all sorts of weather. Very good in showers, sleet, hail, snow and wind only gets out of it's depth in continuous heavy rain. I normally wear a Howies wool t-shirt...

    Military survival kit

Here's a few NSN's for those in the military, if you know a friendly supplier you might be able to demand some of the items! The mug is worth trying to get. Leatherman tool: 5120-99-786-5369 Metal mug: 8465-99-721-3131 Emergency flying ration, small: 8970-99-700-2104 Emergency flying...

    Sankey Trailers

I have a sankey trailer, it does have a bit of rust but is still strong. It took me about 30 min to cut off the military electric plug and wire in a normal plug, bought from Halfords. You can ignore some of the wires, you don't need the convoy light. Mine doesn't have a opening tail-gate but...

    "Survival" cake

Just made the cake and it tastes pretty good. Used prunes and apricots for the fruit. Replaced the rye flour with oats because my local Tesco has a poor choice of flours. I'll be trying it out in Scotland next week. Thanks for the recipe.
