Trip Report 40km walk in the Peaks

Nice report. I'd be interested to know the recipe/instructions for making those 700kcal bars.

    Micro urban Essentials pouch?

I enjoyed this review of kit here: But I try to be thrifty. Can anyone suggest a UK alternative pouch to the Maxpedition battery holster he suggests? There are many on Ebay but most of the £5 - 10 ones have to be bought from Shenzhen. No problem with China but if I don't like it returning...

    Small travel bag suggestions

Rather late but I have a Bellroy Venturer 9 litre. They are expensive at full price but might be on sale now - got mine new on Ebay for £90. They also do a 6 litre version. The 7 litre Lite model is made with a thinner fabric and has fewer pockets so is cheaper. I love it - stays in place on my...

    Withdrawn Fallkniven F1, S1 or A1.

If you are still selling the F1 with just the Zytel sheath I might be interested. How much would you be asking? Thanks.

Sheath for my Alex Bantam knife?

As seen here: https://www.victorinox.com/uk/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Medium-Pocket-Knives/Bantam-Alox/p/0.2300.26#accordion-prod-details-2 I like it but there is of course no ring for a lanyard... Can anyone suggest somewhere I might find a ready-made simple, lightweight sheath to hold it...

    Yurts in winter?

I like the rocket mass heaters. Seen a few videos of them. Not to complicate things too much but... We salvaged a huge amount of 7' x 2' weather-proofed ply two days ago. It was used as flooring for large teepees at a festival. My friend, who has built several wooden-framed houses, is thinking...

    Yurts in winter?

Thanks for the info. I should clarify I'm in UK in the West Country - we don't get much colder than 0C most winters. And this is an experiment so I don't want to spend more than a few hundred pounds ideally.

    Yurts in winter?

Apologies for cross-posting but it seemed appropriate. I'm camping in a small backpacking tent on a farm at the moment. I have the option of staying here through winter... But it will be colder of course. So I'm thinking of something bigger and actually liveable but not permanent. I wonder what...

Recommend me a 75mm sleep mat

I was about to buy the Sea to Summit XT Ether insulated but they are £150 for the regular size. I wanted the wider version which is 60cm wide I think. These cost even more and difficult to find. I then realised I might only use this for car camping or in friends barn etc. So it doesn't have to...

TRITIUM NITE GLOWRING - Always on GITD tag - Beta decay - colour choice - 2nd GB

Me too! I just got the 'Twinglow' version with two vials in a larger enclosure - super bright in green. I also bought a single in yellow - also good. I'd like twin glows in ice-blue and orange.

There are only two buttons in each posting: 'Like' and 'Reply'. I'm using Safari on MacOS Catalina.

That is a prehistoric method. Surely there must be a modern way of posting images from the desktop?

    Swiss Army style knife suggestions?

Well last week it arrived. Duty and a handling charge were imposed before I could collect from Royal Mail delivery. The parcel showed the value as $23.95 which = £18.50 so Royal Mail charged £8 'handling fee' and customs another £5 = £13 Outrageous considering the original value of the goods...

    Swiss Army style knife suggestions?

I've ordered one from Perry Knifeworks so we'll see how long that takes and hope I don't get stung for duty. Unlikely I think given cost of $23.

    Swiss Army style knife suggestions?

I see Perry Knifeworks has them: https://www.perryknifeworks.com/ruike-knives-m11-medium-slip-joint-knife-green-g10-2-75-satin/ Has anyone used them I wonder? I may order from them. It's a shame the postage $30 costs more than the knife $23 !!!
