Anyone else a bit like this?

Good luck, I hope you get it for a fair price and it’s all you hope for.

Anyone else a bit like this?

It’s like unexpectedly running into old friends

Anyone else a bit like this?

Well since I can get £40 for the draw knife, £25 for the folding wire cutters and probably in the region of £100 for the F1 Fallkniven I should be ok.

Anyone else a bit like this?

I’m patient, if I can’t buy it cheap I tend to do without until one comes along…for instance, last weekend I bought a Fallkniven F1, a WW2 folding wire cutter and a draw knife….all these are things that I‘ve wanted for a while. I got the lot for £35. I‘m tight as a ducks ar#e but always ready...

    Flies.

We use these, we hang one in between the chicken run and the bins. It wipes them out by the thousands. (They stink)...

    Where are the butterflies?

The lime trees are absolutely full of bees. Every tree sounds like a swarm. I’m seeing plenty of meadow brown and ringlets but no painted ladies or red admirals yet.

    Dressing refresh advice.

If it makes you feel better, make the appointment to get it checked over. Non of us are really in a position to give a reasoned opinion because we can’t see it, smell it, pick it or poke at it with grubby fingers. If it feels like it’s infected it may be best not to wait.

How's the weather where you are ?

Cool and breezy with occasional drizzle…what a blessing, cool overnight so I slept well and it’s absolutely beautiful out and about as things are greening up. I’ve been too hot for comfort this last couple of months.

Is it right to cut low hanging branches on a local footpath?

Personally I would ask the owner of the trees to take a look at them with you and politely ask them to do something first, at this point you could offer to help. If this isn’t possible or you’re not on good enough terms with them and if the branches are blocking the footpath or the branches are...

    Cabin Design

I have a picnic bench that shows up as an outbuilding on OS maps. I also have a whole load of log stacks and two small barns that have completely slipped under the radar for the past 15 years. There doesn’t seem to be much logic to it.

    Cabin Design

Another question; Does the existing shed show up on OS maps and if so how long has it done so? It is very difficult for a council to prove what building existed/when a building has been built on the spot if there was an existing building showing on maps and plans. There are rarely detailed plans...

Is the stream your boundary? If so that dictates the height of the ridge shouldn’t exceed 2.5. Having said that it depends where you are as to how “on the ball” planners are as the 9 year rule provides an avenue to build oversize if you’re prepared to take a small risk. To increase usable...

    Dressing refresh advice.

It sounds like an ugly little cut in an awkward place. Hopefully if you’re able to keep it clean and dry your finger will be a bit more mobile within the week. Personally I would resist the temptation to have a look at it and wait until it starts itching (a sign it’s healing) before doing anything.

    One nettle cordage challenge

My nettles aren’t far off being ready for cordage but I must admit I’ve never attempted making thread. Apparently nettle fibre performs in a very similar way to linen to the point where it can be spun and woven, I’d very much like to see that in action.

    Dressing refresh advice.

I would never go down the MTFU route because everyone reacts differently to an injury. I was just looking for a bit of context (and being nosey)

Just how big is the cut? Not that I’m offering advice, I’m just being nosey.

    Stove Choice?

Hiking with a 10 year old? Chocolate, trail mix, flapjacks and sweets don’t need a stove.

    Where are the butterflies?

To complicate matters even further a lot of wild bees also show sexual dimorphism, buff-tailed bees are a good example. The male looks like an entirely different species.

    Where are the butterflies?

First off, we keep honey bees. Since it’s known that I can work with bees I’m often called to collect swarms or eradicate wasps that are causing a nuisance. Our house has several different species of wild bees as well as a colony of honey bees (a small cast swarm, not worth recovering) all...
