    Any pack with an external frame will give the best ventilation. Just not the best comfort till you get used to them.

    I use insect repellent and occasionally a head net, depending how bad the midges are. Nothing beats camping with just an army bivi bag.

    Didn’t get a photo but I heard a lot of seagulls making noise looked out of the window and across to the neighbouring house on the roof was an adult heron. We live near a pond, seen a baby heron on my fence many years ago but the adult was impressive.

    Could you not still use this but pack less or not use side pouches. It’s what I do, just got to be strict and the plus you will save money

    Friend can get one of these, cheap. Asked me if they are any good. Sadly asking the wrong person don’t use meths yet, if ever. Anyone ever have one, how do they compare to others, if it worth him getting a trangia instead ?
