I have a pair of Leki poles but only use one of them; the other lives in the car as backup. I wouldn't be without a hiking pole as I find it very useful for easing ascents, and especially so for confidence on steeper descents as my knees are not what they used to be. I don't use the handle loop...

It's not quite the 65-foot ocean-rated motor yacht that I had in mind when I clicked on "Buy Now". But, on the plus side, it did cost me several £million less. I thought I'd put it all together to check it out and see before planning its maiden voyage.

I made a removeable bail handle for my Ti pot from part of a push-bike brake cable. The connectors were utilised from the innards of a piece of regular cable connector (shown at the bottom of the pic). The handle slides on to the pot and fits under the lip.

Frogspawn, first of the year seen today. Looks nice and fresh. It was in a small pool up at 670m (2,200 ft) in the Brecon Beacons National Park this morning. I've not seen any yet at lower levels to date this year. (Perhaps the valleys are still too wet for the frogs?)
