I love that quirky Finnish humour. A while back, they had videos testing the strength of their gear; the best one was what they did to a closed-cell foam mat. Through tears of laughter, I pressed the 'add to cart' button. The mat has been utterly brilliant.

I have been using a Spyderco Doublestuff ceramic stone for keeping an edge in the field. I am now wondering whether I should move over to a natural stone to sharpen my blade. What are people's thoughts about natural stone and ceramic-type stones? Which are better/ more effective?

A bit of a change on the tick-tock front: I got fed up with the failure of my earlier-posted Omega to keep time to their much-vaunted METAS standards, even after adjustment, so I went for a Vertex instead. It's brilliant: accurate, hard wearing, clear and a British company!
