Great honest post, thank you. One good tip for minimalising your kit, which I do every time to stop 'gear creep' is to list everything I take every time and during or after my trip I look at the list and remove or adapt anything I didn't use, with the exception of my little cuts kit.

Herman the counter argument to that is you shouldn't have anything you 1. Can't field repair 2. Can't replace with natural alternative or 3. Have anything not robust enough to survive use in the field. Except being a hussif to stitch up tears or replace buttons Just my opinion of course

True but if needs must it could be unravelled I suppose or just make the holes bigger? I have no idea the size of mine certainly thicker than waxed linen, however I never count anything out
