Avoid Regatta and Craighoppers as for me they wear out in the under groin area. I think you would have to make your own to get really good quality.

    Losing Weight!

Am I the only one who carries at least five drinks? Tea bags, Coffee, Chocolate, Stock Cubes and Hi5 tablets. This is the first time I have heard of someone who does not like the smell of coffee. I am considering adding a tea ball to my kit for pine needle tea etc. Coffee bags have been a...

Which bushcraft/outdoor/survival/camping/hiking Youtube channels do you subscribe to?

I find the knot tying videos a little stressful. Even Dave's books give me a twitch. They get them wrong, call them by odd names or use a name which does not really apply to one knot. Also I have found my Bushcraft thing I cannot discuss due to it requiring 3 hours and a slide presentation...

Anyone remember wire saws, 40+ years ago, that cut?

The explorer survival knife kit had a single wire saw which was really good. Maybe just add a sabre saw blade and make a handle.

    PhD - Bushcraft Research

I cannot believe I am typing this again. If you check out Memory Code by Dr Lynne Kelly (The book version of her PhD thesis so you could read that instead) and British Woodland by Ray Mears in that order. The thing that strikes me as really interesting is the way they saw the world. Ray...

    Spear shafts

One of the things that surprised me in British Woodland was how many woods are used for different things. If you want to go really early, yew as it the oldest used so far. Apparently Rowan is to be avoided as it does not last.

    Book or Kindle?

Me too so Kindle become a necessity. Weirdly I prefer to read now on my kindle or computer however I often buy the book regardless. Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes read by Stephen Fry. Also Ray reads British Woodland himself. Dresden Series read by James Masters.

    Orange is the New Black

I saw this video and I do not like orange thanks to Bear Grylls. If anyone knows what blue the international orange is being changed to, please speak up? That said I have taken the idea onboard and am to a certain extent doing what Woody Girl does going forward in that everything will get...
