idea for on the go charging

Nothing you can do to forestall your entropic doom. Well put, RV, that's it and all about it; I suggest @knowledge=gain that you go and have a read about entropy.

    Surplus parachute shortage?

I have one, ex-cargo 'chute, green, most of the lines cut short-ish but in very good nick. I've never used it and have no space to open it out to see what size it is but your dimensions above ring true. For the scouts, you say; well pm me and you can have it for the postage.

    Subaru Outback?

Thanks for the replies, and I've bought myself one; five years old with 24000 miles and a year's parts and labour warranty. I've put 800 miles or so on it and I love it, the only thing I'm a bit wary of is the CVT gearbox. Although working very well and having the option of using it manually...

What would a modern scouts be like?

Seems to me, after reading the foregoing 28 posts, that what's needed badly is that which has been absent for a generation or more, which is simply a sense of common purpose. Much of what has already been said follows on from that one simple concept.

    In the News Today

I do apologise.........I thought I had posted in 'In the news today', and this was an item I spotted in the news today relating to wildlife, local wildlife, and incredibly rare and special. Again, I'm sorry that you don't consider wildlife to be part of 'Bushcraft, but I do.
