    Sprouts & Micro Greens

I like the screw on mesh tops you can buy quite affordably. Just pour water in through the mesh, sloosh it about, pour away and return the jar to the dish rack, upsidedown. Twice a day does. At the moment, I have red mustard seeds going, very cheap from the Asian section of the supermarket...

    Sprouts & Micro Greens

When I do them now, I use a Mason jar with a mesh lid. They are in all supermarkets here. Lentils, wheat, chickpeas ... whatever you have. If they are whole seeds they will likely sprout. I usually use a mix per batch. You can buy bags of seed specifically for sprouting. Not sure what the deal...

That Sowbelly has the lamb foot blade that I would want.

    Petrol - stabilising

I must admit I am scratching my head as to the purpose of provoking this new oil crisis. It's not as if it wasn't an entirely necessary and most obvious outcome.

    Petrol - stabilising

There is about 20 gallons of petrol in a 42 gallon barrel of crude. The current US strategic oil reserve is about 400 million barrels of crude (= about 180 million barrels of petrol, = 7.5 billion gallons petrol). Estimates vary, but the EPA currently says that the US uses 135 billion gallons of...

    What has happened to Etsy?

I think it might be different in different places. Here, for instance things like Craigslist are more and less active in different cities. Certainly, my experience of Etsy has remained good. But that might be luck. There is an awful lot of craft manufacture here, though. Maybe not for long...

You already know the answer. It is 42.

    News sources

I tend to read various versions of The Guardian. So, New York Times, Suddeutsche Zeitung, Le Monde, Globe and Mail. Also, Aljazeera, AP and Reuters. I added NPR and Mother Jones a while back, which I am fond of. They all just sit on my Firefox toolbar. Until now and for decades, I have depended...

    How many Americans are here?

Yes, this has become a real and substantial headache here. It is now very difficult to sell to, and an even more involved process to ship to, the US. Ensuring fees and customs are prepaid, getting QRs and so forth. Stuff getting returned when people get an unplanned for customs bill. This feels...

    Birch Sap

You can just buy birch syrup on Etsy, but it is very expensive. Very. But, maybe that isn't surprising. Maple syrup manufacture is a full scale and relatively efficient industry. Though that doesn't explain why there isn't a birch syrup industry. Maybe the trees are too fragile to invest in...

    Bushcraft Knives

I just don't get on well with that steep grind that we tend to associate with the bushcraft name. Have a look at the flat ground O1 Brisa Trapper. Its a good item. And, if you pick up the kit with the wood handle, which is (was) affordable, you can quickly make it very comfortable to use too...

Classic Mora, what’s your go to?

Moras are perfectly OK and, like most people here, I have one or two ... more if their carving knives count in this conversation. I almost never take them or use them. I have had a sort of sentimental itch for a red-handled one for maybe twenty years, but when they introduced the Classic 1/0 3"...

    SODBUSTER knife ?

Nice one that. I ended up with a bunch of sodbusters over time, and a number of near-relatives too. I think it is about the most comfortable and useful single-blade pattern; the 3 1/2" blade version, especially so. But, possibly due to that lack of complaint, sometimes it feels a little taupe...

    What's your go-to Spyderco?

Can't say I have a favourite Spyderco as I have a bunch. But the 52100 Millie here and the Stretch are in the 'carried-very-often' category. They are quite different from each other, but both just great. The PM1 is an old favourite but got nudged out by the Millie, and more permanently so when I...

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

Have we skipped over rollmops? I know they are more a jar thing than a tinned thing like, but still, rollmops! Lovely. ... aparently an excellent source of creatine (poor things :))
