    What are you growing?

Trying Okra this year, but the rabbits gave it a chewing. We'll see how it goes. Lovely cooked in a dry pan with some cumin, salt and dessicated coconut. They always say cook a rabbit with some Okra from the same field you caught it in (OK, they don't really say that)

    What are you listening to?

Like everyone else in the world it seems, I am listening to this. A type of modern magic. Reminds of one of those pictures in the 1990s that you stare at and suddenly an image becomes apparent. Takes a little while before your mouth falls open.

    Holes in my Tilly Hat

:) Get some lederhosen to match. Can you yodel? Glad Tilley came through. The usual repair medium here is grey duct tape. You see it on everything from down jackets to tents and rucksacks ... even minor house and auto repairs

The Elusive “One Knife” for Bushcraft…?

Been a big fan of the Brisa Trapper for a long time now. O1, flatground, 1/8" stock, 3 3/4" blade. It can do most things if kept sharp. I asked a maker for a slightly more refined version of it. Todd Kroenlein on BCUSA provided that. I have a Stefan Aberg that I like a lot too. But it is...

    Forthcoming pebble launching device ban?

I am pro catapult. But, I remember a story in Chicago. Neighbours, friends, who had known each other for years got into a long running quarrel over a parking space. One day it blew-up again and, this time, one party went into their house, got a gun and shot the other ... who promptly died...

What wildlife did you spot today?

Groundhog up a tree. I thought it was an Otter at first and wondered 'what the'. Then got a better look at it. Never seen one in that particular vicinity (in town, just off the ravine) but it was on a slope and some trees had recently been cleared below there. Apparently, just the kind of spot...

Best Concerts Youve Ever Been Too

Siouxsie and the Banshees right after John MacKay and Kenny Morris left. Budgie took over the drums then. The Cure were supporting, so Robert Smith did guitar; reading the chord changes off a bit of paper and with one foot up on a chair. ... they found MacGeoch after that, so before Juju...

    Pocket knife availability in UK.

Do people in the UK buy from individuals abroad, rather than just companies? I keep thinking I might post some things that folk in the UK would be interested in.

    SODBUSTER knife ?

Having a rummage and a clearout, I found these and thought you might like a looksee. There's a Queen Grandaddy just because. The others are a 3 1/2" Bullbuster as mentioned earlier and a 3" Tidioute from 2008. Both in 1095. I think there might be some AI crap going on with my phone's camera

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

I see one well-known knife site in the US closed their thread on the topic on Sunday. Seventy pages of (presumably moderated) commentary.

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

Here they are together, and looking like they could do with a bit of a scrub. The Maple-handled one is a Mini Montana - took me a bit to remember. It is an OK knife. In 5mm stock but can still cut a carrot, so pretty accurate in what you want it to do. It'd be better in 1/8". It's...

    Helle Viking Fail

I have found Helle handles to be too small. That looks like a nice knife though ... not quite a temptation, but nice enough.

    A.I Created images and video

I like those things that pop up if you search something like 'jazz, rain, cafe' on YouTube. Apart from the frequently amusing montages of romanticized cityscapes, speaking as a jazz bore, the AI generated 'jazz', though clunky, lacking argument or any grace, is quite interesting to listen to for...

    What are you currently reading?

The Old Straight Track by Alfred Watkins. Lovely, really. A 1920s study of apparent lines joining British landmarks. I was surprised to find that he didn't know what he was starting w/regard to mystical leylines and the like. That got added to his argument by others later on. I'd always assumed...

    Compact emergency food supply.

I am a fan of dried sausage. Also, big tortillas for making impromptu burritos/quesadillas ... but if it is just no-cook, 'waiting-for-the-boat' food, I'd take a big bag of almonds and raisins and half a dozen cliff bars, big bag of crackers and a jar of PB. Some dried apricots. Cuppa-soups...

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

I think I've been lucky. I've still got three, only two of which (city knife and someting else with a Maple handle) I use now. The big Bravo, got superseded by others. But, the Maple one is a very old one in 12C27 with a 3 3/4" convex blade. I still like to use it, and the convexes on them all...
