    RATS!

The problem is the supply of food. That you must tackle. We had this issue when we still had chickens. Once we noticed that we had unwelcome visitors they had already grow big and were many. We tried shooting them. Popped off a few almost daily, some at pointblank range (air rifle), but it was...

    What are you growing?

I am growing impatient and restless! We had a really nice week with spring days, sun and nice temperatures only for king winter to kick us in the family jewels yesterday, today and the coming week.

French government expected to issue all citizens with survival manual

What I have seen from her so far is rather sensationalistic and selfselling. If a ground war with Russia would indeed happen, it would be initiated by the EU. I for one do not believe Russia has the military or economic capability to pull it of, even if Russia would gain anything worthwhile...

Or lead a horse to water, but can not make it drink. I think they pulled a fast one on Le Pen, even though she still is a politician, so would not put it past her either.

I can relate to your sentiments. Around here And such a detox has much bigger impacts that most of us even realize. Sugar is another one that is really underestimated and which potentially might mess you up real good when withdrawel kicks in.

    Bergans of Norway

A 5 year old? Make him/her carry their own lunch, nothing more then that. They wear out faster then you might expect and they will outgrow any backpack you get them. So I would stick to a simple, cheap rucksack from a thriftshop or something like that and maybe a small canteen. Make the bigger...

    Bergans of Norway

I have (had) several, including a small one with frame. Which I would not recommend for children. I think they might be a lot less comfortable, due to shape and weight, on their backs then on an adult's. And even for those these framed backpacks are hit or miss. I use none of my Bergans...

French government expected to issue all citizens with survival manual

When seeing the replies on the posh and the plebby and the apparently vast differnce in cleanliness and waste, I would say it is by choice rather then imposed topdown. If there is no wastecollecting in a city, yet neighbourhoods look ery different, then it is by residents' choice. probably...

Trip Report Pine forest debris shelter overnighter

Well done! Just a small tip when it comes to boughs and shelter; make them overlap like roof shingles. That way water will be shed outward. What I do/did was start at the bottom, lay a row, then next row, working my way up.

Really?? In that case I think you may speak of a failed state. Even in Sweden, bureaucratic nation nr.1, overarching help is being mobilized within hours. There are playbooks, there is equipment and there are professionals and volunteer organozations. It might not be adequate or all solving, but...

French government expected to issue all citizens with survival manual

It is all about the mindset. Some have it, some don't. Cooperation will happen to some extent, pillaging or simply giving up will to. I believe the countryside has a major advantage community-wise over the cities. Given the current state of mind of society at large I fear most will end up in the...

They are noisy and thus attract attention in a situation where there others are in dire need (want). Make of that what you will. When it comes to prepping or emergency situations, I turn to my grandparents and how they lived when I was a little boy. The only electricity they used was flipping a...

    Wool Blanket

You can buy as many as you want, judging by my closet... ;) And when buying one, go for the thicker fluffy ones. The tight and thin ones are perhaps easier to maintain, but keep warmth a lot less well. But when keeping a wool blanket in car or van, remember to air and dry it regularly! They will...

What wildlife did you spot today?

A bunch of common blackbird males. They have returned along the first common cranes and a buzzard! That means spring is here... sort of. Other then that the usual; foxes, deer, moose, hares, the standard array of garden birds; Bullfinches, blue and great tits, Eurasian nuthatch. I have seen...

My 13 yr olds over nighter

Really good! Just a word of advice (learned the hard way) for next time; make sure the blue tarp stays under the camouflaged one. Rain might otherwise run in under the latter and puddle precisely behind and around a sleepingbag.

    Bushcraft is a broad church

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Lisa in person on a few occassions and was allowed to read her dissertation on Bushcraft. I still have that in printed form in my bookcase. I also have Megan's "Mind of a survivor" on my bookself, which raises.... questions.

What do you lot do for a living?

Due to physical "challenges" I was forced to find a non-physical job. So now I am a (substitute) teacher, currently at an international English school.

Liars or Trolls? Wrong or deliberately wrong...

Whatever does not kill you, leaves you scarred, probably maimed for life. There is no I in team, because team often means groupthink or drowning out individuality. It is meant to drive you back into your "place" and keep you in check. All this manic "positive thinking" and "inspirational...

He probably is not entirely unbiased, but he does bring up some really good insights that need serious consideration. His main thesis is that global society as we know it will implode and cease to exist, because there simply will not be enough manpower to sustain it. And he makes a compelling case.
