It was last week but I heard a woodpecker tapping to find food and then managed to spot it. It turned out to be a female Greater Spotted so pointed it out to a friend who'd said she'd never seen a woodpecker before. She was well over the moon when she saw it.

It wasn't today but whilst at the Moot I taught myself how to carve owl bookmarks Then went on to teach it to others in a couple of workshops. Unfortunately I only managed to get pictures of a couple students owls

It's a little late as I've been away at the Moot but better late than never. So it's time get to voting on the entries of the July heat of this years photograph competition to decide who's the winner The theme for last month was On the River and once more there's a nice selection of pictures...
