Are GPS units really necessary these days?

Garmin 401 is wrist mounted. Not big at all. But then again, I also have an InReach mini. Can send messages on that, so it not only serves as a navigation device, it's also a comms device, which doesn't require phone signal. Very handy.

    Car sleeping?

When you say camping, do you mean on a serviced camp site? Or at the top Kinder Scout in an ultralight tent? [emoji848]

    Car sleeping?

Your wife and daughter prefer a hotel? Then abandon your family camping plans. It'll never work. You like camping, they hate it. The second you force them into a car to sleep, you'll not hear the end of the moaning! Why would you want to put them and you through it? If you like camping, then go...

I'm selling my 6 berth motorhome if you're interested? All the luxury for your good lady trust me..... [emoji1787] As for car camping, @Broch has it right. For one nighters it's workable. Inclement weather will see you all bickering..... you need space to spread out for any longer than an hours...

Tengu and the stupid end of the currency.

You'll be unlikely to be able to renegotiate the leccy rates, Tengu. I assume you're renting? In the interim, make sure you're not drawing electricity when you don't need to. That basically means making sure all plugs are turned off when not in immediate use, not leaving lights on when not...

    Canvas/cordura bag thing....

I know that canvas and cordura is notoriously difficult to sew without heavy duty machinery, but if there's someone out there who could make me a large bag out of canvas or cordura I'd appreciate it. Will pay for the work of course. Think something like a longer thinner sand bag shape, but made...

I wouldn't say it's rare per se. But when people find them they come across them quite suddenly and it's a nice surprise.

On the regular dog walking route this morning and saw this golden gift off the path! I'll keep an eye on it and take a little cut in a few days.
