Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

My mum grew up on one, pretty decent semi detached for the day, I would say more internal space than the private houses round here. My grandparents had saved up for a mortgage but defaulted during the depression so lost the house so they had to move into Council, so did my dad after demob, went...

    Glass wearers.

I did not start wearing glasses till I was fourteen, that did not mean I was not far sighted then just that my youthful muscles were more able to adjust for it, every decade since then the prescription has got stronger and stronger, but at my last eye test in spite of having cataracts my vision...

    Why a Swiss Army Knife.

In my experience most people do not have the tools they need to hand when they want them, that is where the SAK comes in, SAK to the rescue. I confess I have not used one for at least a couple of hours to trim a split nail.

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

I would say that one aspect of being a sincere prepper would be being prepared for the consequences of the lack of preparedness of everybody else and to be prepared for the probability that other preppers are targeting each other in a dog eat dog race for survival. Whatever, we can't all be Stig...

    He had it coming..

I think it was a positive point that they considered the possibility because there have been a lot of miscarriages of justice regarding autistic peoples encounters with the police, however they clearly mishandled it anyway. I would refer you to Chloe Hocking's thesis "The Experiences of Autistic...

    He had it coming..

The article did "“They started asking questions, like if I was autistic or anything like that, asking me whether I’d ever been in the army, whether I told people I was in the army,” he said."

    He had it coming..

I suppose, being a lay person in such matters, that a case could be made out that openly carrying a blade even if you have a lawful reason, could be interpreted as flaunting it in an intimidating or threatening way. Once again it is all down to the persons manner when they are confronted.

    He had it coming..

I do have some experience with the police and autism in that I was part of a team assisting the Nottinghamshire Police with their enquiries when they were setting up their new custody suite and procedures. During one of our meetings we had pizza delivered, nobody blinked an eyelid when I pulled...

British Army Bivi and Dutch Hooped Bivi...

https://photos.app.goo.gl/4d4YZDnmFXj7uE9J6 https://photos.app.goo.gl/TjqF2QTWbxKuu2Wz5 My old charity shop Pro Action Tiger Paws tent. You can sit up in this and it can pack even smaller with a bit of compression than shown in the picture. I have not used it in a long while because of a zip...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

I am a flat dweller though, I would have to go all the way over to my allotment for a pony and trap.

British Army Bivi and Dutch Hooped Bivi...

I do wonder considering the number of really lightweight tents out there, what is the attraction of a bivi, it is not the weight for sure. I suppose it is less bother than a tent.

    He had it coming..

I have just looked at the photo, the shirt looks quite hippy, but below the waist he does look a little bit tacticool. Just looked at the Hori Hori on line (I am probably a terrorist for doing that) and I would be miffed if the cops took it from me considering the price of the thing. However it...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

If you have a car you effectively have electricity, when I am camping I don't need anything else, it is enough to keep my phone and any other USB gadgets charged. In future when all cars are electric you will have a complete back up power supply there. I think the biggest problem in the long...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

That was my co-op for a while, but I survived. It is when they run out of Henry Weston's that I worry.

    He had it coming..

Took an axe to the allotment yesterday, and I was wearing camo shorts. If the police had have questioned me, I could show them the pile of wood. If I keep my tools in a bag there is no likelihood of them being seen by anybody, just common sense.

    Poetry Please

Granted that it has been described as the most misunderstood poem of all time, but I am of the school that it is the reader who makes the meaning and not the poet, and that makes all the difference:) Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler...

    Ozzy Osbourne passes

Oh yeah, Ozzy is part of my youth alright. Ozzy was an ordinary lad from up the road in Brum who done good, nothing remotely pretentious about him or the rest of the band. He lived for the final concert and gave it his all.

Kelly, Ghillie, Volcano type kettles, any advice on which to buy ?

I've got both, a Kelly Kettle and a Ghillie Kettle, they are both different sizes so not a replacement for each other. The Kelly Kettle lives on my allotment and the Ghillie Kettle lives in my car, basically the ability for a quick brew on the go anywhere.
