Very nice, AEB-L is worth a look too and I think Alan has some stock of it too. You won’t be disappointed with a Stainthorp, I’ve two of his blades and can’t fault them.
Another recommendation here for Guy Stainthorp, really good guy to work with if you have a bespoke design in mind. Alan Wood is worth a try too.
Out of interest, what steel you thinking of?
Snugpak Sleeping Bag
Antarctica RE model, specs as per the Snugpak website. Link here.
This is a basically new sleeping bag. No tags, but if it had them it would pass as a new bag. Slept in it three times (in Antarctica!) and then carried in my bergen. It’s been in storage a few years, I doubt...
All packed and set for Autumn/Winter. Weighs in at 17kg dry without food and water. This is pretty luxurious for me, I prefer to travel light. If I was going to be doing serious mileage I would pack a summer sleeping bag and trim the fat a bit. I could get this load down to 10kg dry without food...
Finally, my personal protection from the elements. Basha with 10m paracord, if I know it’s going to be crap weather I’ll take a 3x3m tarp as the Basha is a fair bit smaller. This goes in a side pocket.
The other side pocket contains my wet weather gear. Goretex trousers and jacket. The...
In the main pack goes my sleep system. Silk liner, Softie 6 both go into the Goretex bivi bag which gets compressed down into an Ortleib canoe bag. The 3/4 length inflatable multimat gets packed under the Ortleib.
Wash kit is self explanatory, Skin so soft not required at the moment but it is...
In the grey thing I keep all the very handy loose items one might need, primarily of a medical nature.
Assorted dressings, plasters and hydrocolloid dressings (mine have expired and need replacing. Take the expiry dates seriously on any adhesive dressing as it is the adhesive component that...
In the top flap of my rucksack lives this orange waterproof bag containing:
Tourniquet and two field dressings (if I’m using sharps then these will be transferred to a pocket), under gloves and warm hat, main head torch, notepad with waterproof paper and pencils, tape, paracord, Bahco saw...
I’m prepping my kit for a weekend away, so may as well share as I go.
First up, this is what I keep on my person:
Leather belt, leather gloves, lighter, headtorch (this one is my backup), whistle, pocket knife, sweat rag, ferro rod and mobile phone.
Custom tailored SAS/Para Bergen on a Clansman frame. Looks to be based on a very early PLCE Bergen with the addition of three decent sized pouches as per pictures. For size, each pouch will take a DD 3x3 tarp comfortably.
Has one pouch in the top flap and one on the bottom - this one has a...
This is what is known as an upper deck crewsuit jacket. If you’re working in the maritime environment, this is an incredible bit of kit. Made by Mullion Survival Technologies, this jacket is designed to act as a buoyancy aid as well as protecting you from the elements. It’s extremely well made...
The MS-2000, is the main Combat Search and Rescue (C-SAR) light carried by military forces around the world. Probably the best personal distress marker strobe light out there. This is the MS-2000(M), standard strobe and IR operation. Great condition, I’d describe it as almost new. Very light...
If you wanted one of the Mole knives then I’m happy to pick one up and ship it to you. I work 5 miles away from one of their stores.
However, if you’re not concerned about spending some money then you should definitely commission Shing to make you one.
Sounds like you need one of these!
The Kriega stuff is very solid, my tailpack is obscured by my helmet in this picture. Totally waterproof and very versatile. Hope you find something suitable and keep it shiny side up on Dragon’s Tail!
