Paul, based on your desciption it sounds like the car isn't roadworthy at present. I'd push the insurance company to get a quicker fix or offer you a courtesy car to use pending the repair, the same as they would if you'd been in an RT.....

Whereabouts on the windscreen is it cracked, do you have any pics? Depending on where it is, you could be tugged and processed for dangerous condition
