    Aurora

The sun has been getting a bit flatulent again lately. Nothing too major but enough to be worth keeping an eye on the sky in case there are aurora dancers to be seen.

One problem that I find when using horse manure as fertilizer is that it tends to have a lot of grass seed in it which can be a real PITA. For this reason I prefer rabbit droppings (no shortage of that here either).

All too common unfortunately. The farm above one of my fields uses chemical pesticides and I guess it probably drains via water down into that field. :( The other meadows are all good and organic though. :)

Other than the occasional wormer mine are all organic and have been that way for at least fifteen years. On the occasions when they have their wormer I make a deliberate point of separating any poo produced over the next few days and throwing it as far down hill as possible well away from the...

That's the handy thing with having horses. You're never going to run out of fertilizer. :D A couple of years a go I filled a bucket with manure and old leaves and left it for twelve months. The following year I put a pumpkin seed in there and it grew really well all on its own without any extra...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

The thought of going it alone fills me with dread. But the thought of a village of people working together fills me with hope.

    Open question - Financial

I wasn't thinking about it from a prepper point of view (I already have about an extra month or so worth of food to tide me over any short emergencies). I was thinking about it more financially. Would it be beneficial to invest a few hundred pounds now and temporary triple the amount of extra...

    Open question - Financial

From a purely financial perspective I wonder if buying some extra food now would be a sensible investment this year? A large percentage of the worlds fertilizer usually transits through the Strait of Hormuz which has now been halted. Even if it were to open again soon much of this years...

I think what NASA means is that they don't have the equipment on hand to take a man to the moon now rather than they have actually 'forgotten' how to do it. The 1960's equipment is old and unmaintained. In order to send another man too the moon again it would require a massive investment of...

    Chuck Norris RIP.

I bet the Grim Reaper felt nervous coming for him. RIP though. He seemed like a good guy both on and off the screen.

That is always another possibility that the moon landings were faked and that we have never had the technology to do it. I'm fairly skeptical of this conspiracy theory but I don't claim to know the truth for sure either way either. I've looked at some of the evidence on the internet both for...

If NASA themselves are now saying that they've 'lost' the knowledge of how to take a man to the moon then I say that I think NASA must be lying. Simple as that. Besides they still have much of the equipment that was used for the moon missions stored in a museum. I bet they still have all of the...

I expect we still could do if there was enough of a financial incentive to do so. But the skills required and man hours involved would be enormous so no one is willing to pay for it anymore now that much more economical options using modern building techniques are available which can create...

Obviously if you can pick up silver at a lower price somewhere around to the current £50 dip rather than than up the £80 spike which happened a couple of months ago you'll end up getting a few more oz for you cash. So yes the price point at which you buy in does matter considerably in terms of...

Alien technology! :D No I jest. We probably do still have the technological capability to send a human to the moon if we wanted but there are likely two things currently missing preventing us from doing so: 1. The motivation to sent a human there (it's much easier and cheaper to send a robot)...
