    Coping with the heat.

We put damp towels on our horses when the weather gets this hot. That seems to keep them happy. Regarding rehydraton solutions I'm usually too lazy to do it properly. I just pour some salt into my palm and lick it off then grab a big plastic spoon of local set honey and suck it like a lolly...

    Dumb phones

To prolong the life of lithium-ion batteries, which are type commonly found in devices such as mobile phones and laptop computers, it's best not to let the charge fall below less than about 30-40% before recharging them. The Battery University website is a great source of detailed information...

    Geocache - Geocaching

I had a go at Geocaching 18 years ago. I forget what the clue was but I remember it was something along the lines of a crossword style clue. So even once we had found the location of the cache it still took us a while to solve the clue and actually look in the right place to find it. It was a...

    Helle Viking Fail

The Fossekallen looks like a perfect knife for people with smaller hands. Despite my previous bad experience with Helle's quality control and customer service I'm still tempted to buy a Fossekallen for myself. They do look pretty and I really want one.

Elon Musk summed it up well when he said "This censorship law is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The real goal is to enable the UK government to track everyone."

    Forthcoming pebble launching device ban?

I heard somewhere (I forget where) that there are some kind of restrictions on slingshots in France now because they were being used to successfully harass the police during one of their riots.

    Dartmoor hill pony cull feared

I'm mostly a vegetarian although I do eat lots of fish and the occasional bit of pork so I'm well aware of my own self-hypocrisy here. However I did stop virtually all meat some years ago because the way many of the animals bread for food are treated makes be feel uncomfortable.

    Dartmoor hill pony cull feared

Yes is would be an instant vote loser for any government which doesn't step in to stop it happening. That one fact gives me hope for the ponies future.

    Open question - Financial

Since the pullback in January silver has been moving more or less sideways in a range between £50-£70 for the past six months. The shortage hasn't gone anywhere so it's still inevitable that the price has to shoot up at some point soon. It's taking longer than I initially expected but my...
