Voluntarily handing in a large blade to the UK police

That ^ exactly. I've been walking along an area with the dog for over a year using secateurs (and on the odd occasions a pruning saw) to clear an old path. The parts I've cleared only amount to about 250 metres as not all of the path was badly overgrown but it was dense stuff. Little by little...

    Less conventional Fruit.

There's a bloke on Youtube who goes round the world (or getting it sent to his home) tasting weird fruit. Fairly interesting chanel. Its called Weird Explorer. Clicky here.

    Less conventional Fruit.

Greengages can't be that hard to grow as theres a few growing on a bit of waste vround in Carlisle where I walk the dog. Taste nice enough to me anyway. Big fan of gooseberries and although I wouldn't call it a fruit, Rhubarb. As for other Strange Fruit? Theres a very dark song about that with...

Buy once/ last a lifetime / indestructible clothing

Ahh, so I'm not the only one that can't be done with Altberg Defenders then. I have slate on the floor in our kitchen and they always feel like I've dropped a bit of washing up liquid on the floor. Then out on a pavement when its wet its the same thing, just a bit slippery. I once wore them out...

Buy once/ last a lifetime / indestructible clothing

Hmm, I have a pair of those I just can't stand. The uppers are great but the soles have always just been a little slippery when wet (You could call an album that) and I've never trusted them on hard surfaces like rocks. Even after a few hundred miles worth of dog walking I just can't think of...

    Outlast on Netflix

You guys aren't exactly selling this well. From the description I reckon I'd rather be stabbed in the eye with a thistle than watch people being deliberately set against each other to the point where they bicker constantly.

    G10 fibre glass sheet A5

Few years ago I worked on the Windermere Jetty Programme and amongst other things we put a load of grippy decking down. This stuff was wood with resin and sand mix for the grippy bits. Normal TCT blades wouldnt get past about first bait time on day one but Poly Crystaline Diamond blades (with a...

Bushcraft licence to and from the Moot to a place of Residence !

Can someone please explain to me his slightly old question is Less relevant now? Unless that no doubt expensive report into the Met was wrong, in which case can you provide the source of your information for evaluation.

Bushcraft licence to and from the Moot to a place of Residence !

I get that someone from abroad might not have read about the Met police being institutionally racist but the recent report by (from memory) Baronets Casy shows that black people are more likely to be stopped by the police, more likely to be charged and given much harsher when treatment when...

    A Rethink of Green

I've worked on a few sites where I've been able to do a four day working week. Start work ag seve AM, work through to 17:30 (10 hours worked) and take Friday off. 20% less fuel used to get to and from work, 20% less wear and tear on the van. o e less days worth of unloading, and loading the...

    Sharpening kit workshop

First I use a Trend Diamond hone, usually its a fairly big one cos thats what I have in my workvan or sometimes just for a knife its a DMT Diafold which is about the same size as a pen knife. Then this is the stuff I use on a bit of leather glued to a bit of wood. Waxy base containing chromium...

    Sharpening kit workshop

I don't mind a bit of wood with leather and the green stropping compound and use it on a few knives and even plane blades but I absolutely cantbe done with the inconsistent angle that soft pads like mousemats give. Waay too much give in that system. Yeah, it polishes the edge but its ugly as sin...

    Non-military camouflage?

Quite like the T shirts a d I generally figure that not talking at 80 Db and having footware that doesn't clump like a Palace guard goes a long way. Just stopping to look about and listen every once in a while helps a lot. On the quiet jacket thing. If its raining hard its often noisy enough...

Recommendations for decent pair of walking shoes or boots on a budget.

I got some German army goretex boots for about seventy quid grade 1. Second pair now and I got about eighteen months out of the last pair at maybe two thousand miles or more? The dog catches frisbee and my wife also takes him out when I'm at work so likely does a load more miles.

4x4 insurance (30 year old Mitsubishi Delica)

I've been happy enough for years on a commercial policy with Anthony D Evans insurers. They do a lot of horseboxes and so on plus my 19 year old workvan. It's never been expensive enough that I've felt like changing.

    Brambles.

Dethorning is pretty easy with secateurs. While the stem is still attached, use the fully open secateurs to scrape sideways along the stem, turn it a bit after each sideways stroke then cut it. That way you can grip it without being punctured. Hold that de-thorned part in one hand and scrape the...

    Jacket/Smock musings....

Roll of little placky bags for dog eggs. Secateurs for guerrilla gardening/path maintenance usage. Two quid floppy frisbee for the dog to catch. Sometimes a hat.

    Brambles.

Ha, over the last year I've been quietly guerrilla path clearing an area to reinstate a footpath by one of the local rivers. Just everytime I walk the dog I've had my old CK secateurs and have removed about 160 yards of dense bramble stems. Little by little and I'm very nearly through to the...

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

I carry a penknife almost everyday, but I'm not calling it an EDC mostly cos I really dislike the whole acronym thing, plus I'm neither firing the pics onto Instagram nor am I an American prepper. Bit like I like and have motorcycles but absolutely am NOT a Biker. Maybe I just don't like being...
