    Mag-lite Solitaire L.E.D torch ?

Does one not frequire a different geometry reflector to work with the LED emitter? As when I converted my double AA mini maglite to LED it came with a new reflector claimed optimised for LED. I eventually also replaced the plastic lens too as the heat from that emitter sort of...

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

The way Lidl's appears to work, or at least does in my own neck of the woods is it doesn't appear to restock what's out when there are other options available, in that it seems the less popular stuff has to be sold first before they will restock. Am experiencing somewhat of this phenomena with...

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

Maybe a load of old carp but it is said that Napolean's military campaign was the cause of food being tinned and the first tinned food was Sardines from Sardinia. Sardines food gurus claim is a superfood through the fish being stacked to the gills with everything nutritionally useful and it is...

    Open question - Financial

I keep my scrap for the making of findings and other small pieces instead of breaking into stock, so it's not something I will be selling unless I really have to. Surprised bushcrafty folks aren't panning for precious metals ( or are they?) As there are quite a few gold bearing watercourses in...

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

Yup, daily for at least the last three decades, sardines mostly but sometimes mackeral and what I eat is Lidl's finest, cold straight out of the can in oil, and anywhere as I have at times kept a tin of in my day bag along with a spoon. But I marvel at the fact I can afford to eat fish tinned...

    A sore mouth

Yeah, warm salt water's best. Before I found a dentist I was doing DIY dentistry to have regular use of clove oil, peppermint oil and zinc oxide powder to at least know I can ' manage ' a dental issue off the beaten track, and did once when a crown collapsed in a desert country.

    Why a folding knife

Ya know, all my early life bushcrafting of which included extended stays out in the sticks bivouacing in forest made shelters, the knife I used for it all was a Victorinox Handyman ( early model without pliers), to say I never used a fixed blade knife. That Viccy folder was always with me, not...

    Ex Military Beware

As far as I know they still do, but at the same time they offer even 'drop in' mental health care, where all there was in my day was booze and the padre.

    Ex Military Beware

Back in the day mental health comprised of being encouraged to hit the booze, a practice of which post service was deleteriously continued by many for some to end up living on the streets. That said I for one am pleased the military is at last taking mental health seriously, for not only can it...
