    News sources

If anyone is dealing with any kind of mental ill health and lets face it probably most of the UK is to some degree or other to account for the low morale, keeping away from sources of fear propagation is probably a very wise move and particularly so if one is in fact helpless in being unable to...

In honesty part of the reason I come here is to escape the 24/7 fear generating media onslaught.

Classic Mora, what’s your go to?

One Frosts Classic with laminated blade, did have a few others and others bearing the maker's name Eriksson and in solid carbon steel but somehow they found their way to the council recycling centre. The only other ' Mora ' I have is a modified rescue Clipper. The Frosts knife comes with a...

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

The waiting lists are long because there is a problem with recruiting adult leaders for beyond anything else modern working practices and hours can hinder involvement.

    Petrol - stabilising

You're the second person I have heard from that has asked that very same question in the last 24 hours where perhaps you like them are thinking about the same. Where if I will offer you the same solution as I told that other for I in a professional setting have had to find a solution to...

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

My first Venture Scout unit was mixed and what we learned as young adults was how to properly conduct ourselves in the presence of the opposite sex.

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

From 1976 girls were allowed to join the Venture Scouts section for 16 to 20 year olds. This was expanded to all sections in the year 1991, although the admission of girls was optional and has only been compulsory since 2007. But of course things won't change unless there is a demand for...

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

The quality of Scouting always was in the hands of the adult leadership in that the skill and enthusiasm of the adult leaders defined the group and iirc our group was a bit of traditionalist group run by a bunch of retired pongos of whom understandably might have been keen to teach a bit of...

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

Yeah, same here, cubs, scouts, venture scouts and I was an ASL for a couple of years before I committed myself to six years in the armed forces. And I had my day in Windsor after having achieved the Queen's Scout Award.

It was Scouting that got me into Bush Crafting, can any other claim the same?

Though we called it pioneering and backwoodsmanship back then, it was most definitely Scouting that alerted myself to what became Bush crafting and yeah back then we was constructing shelters from the green and kipping out in our creations and with pretty much sod all kit beyond what we were...

    Man cave

Am collecting battery powered tools in a bid to ' get down there ', latest being an 18v 5 inch angle grinder of which most definitely cannot be used in my flat, though I have used dremel sized grinders and a six inch polishing set up 'within boxes' to catch sparks and wheel debris My plan if I...

    Man cave

My cave is my studio flat of which is used for a lot more than simply living - something of which is going to have to stop seeing as I do have a shed I could use if only I cleared it out and fixed the roof and I have the offer of another much bigger shed I can use. Problem with the sheds is...

Tai Chi or other types of gentle exercise

Yeah I do Tai Chi and it's stablemate: Qi Gong. To say despite the fact that I have been suffering with both a back injury and GTPS these past six months, my weekly Tai Chi practice doesn't seem to have aggravated the injury, to say something about it. In addition my physio was impressed I was...

    Waterproof Pen

Having tried the fischer space pen idea I have found myself returning to what I used to use out on the construction site, the humble 4B pencil. The 4B I have also used a a dry lubricant when it was I needed to lubricate a stiff door lock. and many know pencils can be used to lubricate metal zips

    Pocket Dump

If one wears a belt and not braces of which are distinctly more comfortable. Attaching to the belt loop is good enough for myself and I have on occasion got the lanyard hung up on door handles to unwittingly test my attachment. I did try one of Kirtley's suggestions before alighting on the...

    Pocket Dump

Am using a half inch fixed bail bronze shackle of which is good enough for attaching a 550 paracord lanyard to. The lanyard loop at both ends is slimly formed using Raychem glued heatshrink. Been using sailing hardware for years where because of a sailing past I know how good this stuff is
