    Walking adventure - Kit help?

Ive only used it hanging off my camper as an awning so far so would be good to use the bloody thing lol! I think foam mat, there's an excersize mat laying around the house, is there much difference?

That’s exacrlt what I’m hoping for haha! I’ve got a DD 3x3 tarp and an old army surplus arctic bag which is huge! Looking for something a bit smaller.

    Walking adventure - Kit help?

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful!. Plan may have changed slightly and looking tk do exactly the same just head into Europe,hitchiking/walking/couchsurfing/camping. Thinking sleeping bag, bivvi bag/tarp or poncho maybe? How much would I be looking at for a decent light sleep set up?

    Walking adventure - Kit help?

We won't be near any white stuff so shoes should suffice. The plan is light, possibly even walking through built up areas, eating the odd meal out etc when we feel we need it. Hoping it'll be an enjoyable experience rather than forcing ourselves to fully 'wild' for an extended period of time...

    Walking adventure - Kit help?

Ive done a few light walks in my NB running shoes, and a hike up Montserrat in Catalonia and they seemed fine. Really light though so I'll have to see how they fair.

    Walking adventure - Kit help?

Thank for the replies. I was thinking of some walking shoes, would you choose boots over shoes? I like travelling light in general, I've done Thailand for a month twice now with a little 25/30l pack! The biggies I need to purchase are a decent sleeping bag and shoes/boots. Any reccomendations...

    Walking adventure - Kit help?

A friend of mine is leaving the Navy in March and we've decided to do something we've spoke about for a long time - A walking/hitchhiking trip. We're thinking, pick a general direction and head out on foot from ours in Suffolk. Got to be low budget so mainly walking although cycling is a...

    Tarp advice

I'll see how I get on and if I fancy something bigger for the van I can always buy another :D ultimately I like the idea of a big Bilmo one, does he still make themselves?

    Tarp advice

Thanks for the lengthy reply! Sounds a good tarp, I've read nothing but praise about DD tarps so should do me fine! Went for brown too, fancied something different than olive green... I'm keen to try some of the tent style ways of hanging it, never tried it.

    Tarp advice

It will probably spend more time hung high off my camper van roofrack as an awning than it will in the woods so should be fine. I do plan on getting back out into the woods though so I'll excersize caution! Any cord reccomendations or does it not make much difference?

    Tarp advice

Looking to order a tarp to use for both me and the girlfriend. I've heard many good things about the DD 3x3 but is it big enough for two ground dwelling adults? Also, how much cordage am I going to need to cover various configurations? Cheers!

    Cast Iron..

My dad found this in a skip and gave it to me. Can't se any makers marks so not sure what it is. Ceramic on the outer but not on the inside. Ceramics chipped on a few parts, shouldn't matter? Just have it a real light wash, dried and oiled it then sat it on the hob for a couple of minutes.

    Slightly different tarp advice...

Just checked an old thread of his, his tarps look lovely! I'm tempted by a 4x4m one but the price rises a fair amount at that size.

    Slightly different tarp advice...

The campers based on a Merc 814 which is a 7.5t panel van... Plenty of space lol

    Slightly different tarp advice...

I've nearly finished building my camper van based on a Mercedes Vario 814 (not sure it'll ever be finished) and am looking for a tarp to act as a cheap/versatile awning. I plan on lashing it to the roofrack and then using a couple of poles to support the other end. It will live in the van so...
