    Stormy camp on exmoor

I planned to take the smokey hut to a little known campsite on exmoor near Lynton. Set in a deep valley with the river Lynn rushing alongside the camping area. Fires are allowed, very basic amenities, 3 loos, 2 showers(which I can't comment on, as I never tried them, but they looked good.)...

Well, how is the ban and licensing on guns going? So well, that a man was gunned down in Bristol today, suffering life changing injuries, and causing 3 schools in the area to be locked down. Just saying.....if bans and licencing worked so well, how did that happen? I'm not arguing for or...

    Fuel Shortages

Yes it degrades in a can or petrol tank. You can put in a petrol additive to help preserve it. Can't remember what it's called. I'm sure someone knows and will advise. When I didn't ride my bike over the covid period, I had to have the tank drained and carbs fettled. It was an expensive...

Post deleted as apparently it is irrelevant and the mod editing made it even more so.

I'd rather practice archery every Sunday afternoon than play boring old golf or football anyway! :)

Your point about knife crime shows a marked difference in a legal (atm) weapon, (xbow,) and a supposedly illegal weapon. (Knife.) I'd also be interested in the amount of gun crime in the last 10- 20 years under licence regulations, and then compare to crossbow . Should tell us a lot.

So that's 3 so far......... The government must have the full data, or why on earth would they want to enact such a law.? To say they have no recorded data makes a mockery of it all, and makes me think there is something else behind it. I know, I'm a suspicious cynic arnt I? ;)

When they come for your target bow next, as that could hurt someone too? Honestly, do you all want to be cutting your nice lab grown steak ( has to be lab grown cos cows fart and are dangerous to the atmosphere,) with a plastic knife...oh wait, it will come pre cut. Yes I'm being overly...

Its a reported fact the man in the susuki in derby is Indian and has been charged with attempted murder with a vehicle.. Fact, not racism. Having a guess at someone's religion isn't racist either. One could easily guess what religion I might belong to based on where I come from and where I...

I know of 3 people injured by cars in the last year. One can now barely walk and needs a motability wagon. I've lost friends to vehicle accidents over the years. I don't know of anyone hurt, or who's had life changing injuries from a crossbow. Out of interest, can anyone be bothered to find out...

7 or 70, injured, a susuki swift or a pantecnican. The point being, it was used to hurt people. Designed for it or not, a vehicle does far more damage each year to human life and health than a crossbow. And blow me down, you have to pass a test, get insured, have an mot etc. Far more...

So, I've just learned that someone drove a van into a crowd of people in Derby yesterday, injuring 20 people. I'll bet that van had all the paperwork in order. But whether it had or not, it didn't stop someone attempting to injure and kill innocent others out minding their own business. The...

    What are you growing?

Today has been a lovely mild day, so I've been busy hauling compost and topsoil home, (not easy without a car) Cutting the grass, weeding one of my beds, planting up the potato bags, and several other veg seeds. Scrubbed the steps. Weeded all the pots, and built a bonfire with the dead budliea...

    What did you buy today?

A mini maglight still in box and working. 10 hanks of handspun undyed wool. Only a tenner for both from the charity shop. 2 bags of compost and 2 of topsoil to pot up the potato bags.

It is so obviously about the persons attitude, not the item in question.

But Pattree, no amount of legislation, actualy stops people obtaining and using anything. Legislation doesn't even stop legal owners using them for nefarious actions. The police can only act if they find an item. By which time it could well be too late as the item has already been used. How...

That was exactly my point. I am cynical that any legislation does anything to stop unwanted behavior. Just another stick to beat us all with. A few years ago, fairly near me, a local registered shotgun owner , well respected and known, and shall we say on the better off side of life, killed...

How's the knife ban working? stabbings have been reduced or stopped ? Oh, no they are happening daily. Perhaps the axe attack on a young mother last week should initiate a ban or licencing of axes.? Hang on, I'll fish my tongue out of cheek. Just wondering.....
