Sold Raven Armoury PK2 *price dropped*

At long last - and heavily discounted - the PK2 has sold. I do wonder quite why it didn't appeal. I know the initial price was high but even that was massively down on the £780 you'd have to pay for a new one. Still, it's gone though I do find myself wondering...

    Sleeve pockets

It seems that, for bushcraft purposes, sleeve pockets are pretty useless, then. The only things that I can think of that might be suitable are snacks and a small cuts kit; however, I'd sooner keep the latter in a trouser pocket, as I'm less likely to take off my trousers when in the woods! A...

    Sleeve pockets

I have noticed that a good number of military or military-inspired jackets have zipped pockets on the upper arm section of the sleeves. Given that the jacket itself is usually equipped with larger, more readily accessible pockets, what are these sleeve ones for? Does anyone use them? If so, what...

Sold Raven Armoury PK2 *price dropped*

I've dropped the price as I feel that a knife like this needs to be used, rather than just left sitting on the shelf! I hope the reduction might make it more appealing and accessible!

    Sharpening stones

Many thanks to all. I'll save myself some money and stick with my aged Doublestuff.

    Sharpening stones

Naniwa certainly seem to earn praise but I am not really looking for a full-size bench stone. I should've made it clearer in my original post: I'm looking for a small, 'pocket' stone to use when I'm out in the woods and was wondering about natural stone options as opposed to the Doublestuff/DC4...

    Sharpening stones

I have been using a Spyderco Doublestuff ceramic stone for keeping an edge in the field. I am now wondering whether I should move over to a natural stone to sharpen my blade. What are people's thoughts about natural stone and ceramic-type stones? Which are better/ more effective?

Sold Raven Armoury PK2 *price dropped*

I'm afraid not. I have far too much 'stuff' already and find myself on an ongoing quest to get rid of it! Sorry.

Laguiole - what is it about them?

And is it still possible to get hold of a genuine, French-made Laguiole?

    Show us your watches

A bit of a change on the tick-tock front: I got fed up with the failure of my earlier-posted Omega to keep time to their much-vaunted METAS standards, even after adjustment, so I went for a Vertex instead. It's brilliant: accurate, hard wearing, clear and a British company!

    Walking sticks and staffs

I use a pair of Black Diamond poles but only when I'm backpacking, as they are also the supports for my Hilleberg tent. I'm undecided about their usefulness while actually walking: yes, they give support on the downhill bits and add impetus going uphill but they also get in the way quite often...
