You're right it was a B&R Corporal in 2009 with a .338. Lots on wiki if you're interested. Time of flight would have been as much as 6 seconds at that distance.
It looks good - unfortunately already sold out in OG already. Presumably a stich though design given the price and temperature rating.
P.s. I asked if they would produce more in OG, but there are no plans. Just the blue ones left.
Sounds like they would be perfect for what you want. I share your dislike of lined boots, I have a non-goretex set of nepal extremes which I love, I dont think they make them anymore. Lowa still make their military boots both with and without goretex though.

You're right, protected in Oz, completely alien to NZ (having no natural mammals or marsupials other than bats). They are culled at every opportunity in NZ - possum fur being an excellent by-product of this process.
I've found the merino/possum mix to be great, almost like cashmere!
