What is the point of taking an axe bushcrafting?

Thanks for the response John. As you can see I'm from Bridgend probably a 3/4 hour walk from the old moot so you would know the woodland around there. No intention of traveling further at the moment

What is the point of taking an axe bushcrafting?

I see where you are coming from.So what things would you want to carve Trash. I've done so many spoons I've had enough of it. Anything else in particular? Sorry I forgot to mention that I attend woodwork class as well so I have a full woodwork kit. Here's one of my decorative spoons

What is the point of taking an axe bushcrafting?

Seems like a silly question but I cant understand the need to take an axe for a bushcraft outing. I'm not going to build a cabin. I'm not going to cut down trees. Yes, faster processing of wood for a fire compared to batoning. My Bacho Laplander and Condor Bushlore can do the same job. So why...

    Walking sticks and staffs

Anyway. Back to the main topic of home made sticks. What do people use to varnish them with? I use natural products but some people swear by yacht oil which gives a great sheen but to me this stops any residual moisture from escaping. My sticks are 2 years drying out but I still dont like this...

    What did you forage today?

Again not foraging but it might give someone a laugh. I bought a white grape vine on the cheap from Wilko and have been cultivating it for the last 3 years. Got fruit on it this year. Turns out it's redcurrants

    Test Hazel Walking Stick

Working on a test walking stick for my brother before committing myself to a nice straight piece of Hazel. He wants a double handle which is a new one on me where you have two separate handles so he can swat stuff. Excuse the handy work but it is a test carved with a condor bushlore and looking...
