N.E.Scotland 3rd meet up results (VERY PIC HEAVY)

... or arrow-throwing, or bushcraft first aid, or sling and atlatl. (or, for that matter, the psychology of passive crowd control)

    NE Meet 3 - September

Rocks - that is, smooth pebbles the size of a ping pong ball (I would have said "small egg" to be more bushcrafty, but all eggs are small to an ostrich or roc).

    NE Meet 3 - September

How Sunday evening was spent as compensation: hunting cardboard.

N.E.Scotland 3rd meet up results (VERY PIC HEAVY)

Looks like you saved the best until last! Wish I'd been there for the rushes; hope I'll be there to catch up at the next one. (no photos of the totem actitvity for BCUK-NES-3: tree-tangling with bolas?)

    NE Meet 3 - September

What did I miss? By the time that my mate finally turned up, it was too late to head back to Haddo. Disappointing... as I'd managed to unearth my cobwebbed bolas: perfect for illustrating how much nicer CBJ's and Charles' were. Thanks to the organisers, and to the attendees!

    NE Meet 3 - September

Chance appearing; possibly intermittently; aiming at least to pass by Friday p.m.

    water sports safety knife

At £4 for one of the blue-handled (Mora) rigger's knife, snap the end off. Neatly. Too much emphasis on the "very tight budget" part? They're popular on North Sea back decks, if that counts as a recommendation.

    NE Meet Number 3

A while back, Fred suggested fire management in the rain. If anyone can illustrate that tinder roll-up thing, I'd be grateful. Did you do the fish-on-a-stick thing this time? That's always a classic. Or, if we're ambitious, a hangi (if only not to be emasculated by the competing cookware)...

N.E. Scotland Haddo meet the results (PIC HEAVY)

This next one you mention... Chief?

    N.E Scotland 2nd meetup

If they're to be sweet, think carefully before adding cocoa powder. Looking forward to the post-weekend feedback - have a great one! We'll be looking for the smoke from Cairngorm.

    N.E Scotland 2nd meetup

I have a question for kiltedpict: when you get the dutch oven, will your bushcraft kitchen finally be complete? At the risk of sounding childish... it's not fair that we can't be there!

Hobo Stove Gallery (Probably picture heavy)

(not all steels are magnetic; including austenitic, a common stainless steel)

Benchmade Mini Griptillian (Black - Excellent condition)

I was worried that might be the answer. Any recent first-hand experience with Customs? (by "first-hand", I don't mean rubber gloves)

Benchmade Mini Griptillian (Black - Excellent condition)

Where can I get a mini-RSK in the UK? (sorry, hijacking the thread after a fruitless search for an answer elsewhere)

    N.E Scotland 2nd meetup

I circled it in the afternoon without seeing anyone: either I was too late, or your camo blends in well. Tracking was confused by Scouts around a fire lit in the pit near the Pheasantry.

    N.E Scotland 2nd meetup

It'll be a good time of year for (responsible) wild food. CBJ, you have PM.

    Aberdeenshire Places

Both Lochnagar and Bennachie are 'traditional' midsummer campsites. I've bivvied one, tented and hammocked the other. I'm told that fires are permitted at the Glen Tanar campsite (that's if you like campsites). Cairngorms is (are?) a big area for a discreet camper.

    Help with shelter ID?

I've been complicating the archaeological evidence, and risking a bushfro fire, to answer this question visually. My hobo shield burns hot, so I had to add wet leaves to get smoke.
