BBQ fire starter from Azda supermarket

No, it doesn't have a cleaning access at the chimney. It is a simple basic chimney, but installs and comes off fast and easy, no leaks of smokes, and 127mm diameter, which seems efficient so far. It is a bit fragile due to thin metal structure. Yeah, no probs. Take time, and whenever you...

BBQ fire starter from Azda supermarket

Yeah, I forgot to film the firelighter. It was tossed into somewhere in the shed. I will try to remember next time going into the shed, and take a photo of it, and upload here. I found it very effect firelighter. It would light fire to wet woods no problem. It smelt like paraffin actually...

Tools at the heart of the home/homestead - power tools!

I have been using mainly Bosch garden and power tools for years, but this year I bought some nameless 21V Li-On clone power tools from Amazon for their lower price. They definitely lack the power of Bosch, but still are doing the job OK without breaking or going dead.

I would now NOT like my knife restoring. change of plan.

Moras get to the original sharpness just by stropping on the leather for a few minutes, unless suffered some unusual damage on the edge. No need to use any stones or other sharpers into Moras for sharpening. And Moras are the work tools which don't need to be immaculate in the looks. The...

BBQ fire starter from Azda supermarket

Picked up a BBQ Fire starter from Azda over the weekend. It was only £1.50 for a packet, and looks like white chocolate board, which snaps off into a bar of bits in adult finger size. It worked really well. By just one lighting on it with some twigs around, it started fire no problem. I am...

    The other half - Handles.

My garden shed is very damp, and all the stored woods in it go bad in 10+ years of time.

    The other half - Handles.

Now I prefer some sort of non-wooden handles for my knives and tools. Because, the wooden handled knives and tools I stored in the garden shed for 10+ years have gone bad due to the dampness. Some wooden handles fallen apart or detached from the blades. I must now look into rehandling them...

Sold Fox Rambler 699 Survival Knife, includes Sheaf, Sharpener and Tool £80

It arrived this afternoon. Took it out to the garden, and did some chopping test using the holly tree logs. It did great job. The saw back worked great too. Really liked the feel and balance of the blade thanks to the forged aluminium handle. It was still paper shredding sharp after all...

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

No problems. I should have put down "a wanna be" in front of it. :D

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

I love the smell of wood fire. The noise and warmth from the old wood stove is calming and takes us back into the good old days. :) But I know what you mean. If the wrong fuel is burnt in wrong set up, then it could give out bad stench, which is not nice. My neighbor was not even complaining...

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

Yeah, we have other things to drop off to the skip as well, such as old paints etc. We are going to take the garden waste as well at the same time. Just wondered how other folks might deal with the possible problems with the issue, when so many chimineas and garden firepits are selling like...

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

Never said putting washing out was anti social. We do as well. There are many things they have done which are truly anti social, but we never said a word, but kept on living quietly out of respect and for neighborly harmony. I am not going to list the details here.

You made a good point regarding "all about respect". But respect only makes sense when it is in mutual terms. If you demand respect from the other party while you give no respect to anyone else, then you are demanding others to live under your law, and no one will take you seriously.

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

We have to pay for the garden waste bin lifting service here. Even if we pay, we get only 1 bin, and it gets lifted only once per every 4 weeks. So it may not be adequate to clear the garden wastes in short period of time. We are planning to move house to somewhere more rural and countryside...

Not from my experience either. Aren't chimineas made for burning woods?

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

We use charcoals in BBQ. But in the firepit and wood stove, the tree logs, cut branches and twigs are used. We use the the dried ones first. The garden clearance work has started last year, and has piles of dried logs in the corner now. Fine on stumparies. They certainly look cool and...

Withdrawn POST OFFICE DESTROYING KNIFE - THE END !!!

Both the seller and buyer very cool for handling the situation what seems to be a real disappointing case. Thanks for the alerting the situation too. I am glad that I don't need any new edged tools at present.

Wood burning smell from the firepit in the garden

No complaints yet. But this year I have been clearing the over-grown garden, and have been burning more garden twigs, branches and logs in the garden firepit. This situation made us have more BBQs as well. We still have mountains of over-grown garden plants dug up, and piled in the middle of...
