    Any gamers on here?

I recently bought a little R36S emulator off ebay and I'm working through some classic games from the 90s.

    Water outages

I have several friends in TW and it's been chaos. The water went off on Saturday and it's only just come back (Thursday). The shops sold out of bottled water within 24 hours. People with a bit of garden might have a water butt which is good enough for flushing toilets. People living in flats...

What is wrong with UK police?!

Private Eye referred to "former newspaper, the Telegraph" and I spat out my coffee!

    Return of the Genome

Woolly mammoths would be fantastic but would they have to be altered to have short hair for the looming climate change? Or would a team of Aussies be roped in to shear them for summer?

Who was the genius who conned us into believing we need a fixed blade knife for bushcraft?

I think the assertions made in the OP are cherry picking the facts somewhat. For instance in the tropics the machete is king and used for just about everything. That's a heck of a lot of people not using a folding knife or axe for bushcraft! Making sweeping generalisations of my own: in the UK...

    And we have snow!

4" is impressive for an old boy in winter!

    ''UK Legal'' carry tanto blade

If it's just about the look then the Boker Zenshin is an upside down or "reverse" tanto. It is eye catching but pretty uncomfortable in hand to be honest.

    Help with a leaky horn

My horn mug has a wooden base and is sealed with epoxy, not as a repair but as its original construction.

The rise and fall of communication systems.

File this under "thinking out loud" ;) Seems to me that all means of communication go through a certain life cycle which looks roughly like: Invention-> testing, use and development in academic circles-> use by business/wealthy people -> scaled and cheapened for general populace -> ubiquity and...

    Winter blues.

The thing that affects me is lingering colds. Having never worked a day indoors in my adult life, I'm pretty sure lack of sunlight isn't as big a problem for me as a lot of other people. As TLM says the damp is the worst and it's especially mild this year in southern England so humidity has been...

    Is there less honour recently?

Had a very positive experience on Ebay recently. A company selling galvanised steel brackets that turned out to be far more substantial than expected at a very fair price. It's been a while since I was surprised in a good way!

    Natural scents in our homes

I used to put tansy in my chickens' water to fend off internal parasites.

    Natural scents in our homes

I grow hops just for this reason but the scent does wear off quickly.

Maybe ask them? They seem to respond to questions quite willingly.

    Is it me?

Sometimes it's not what is said but the way it is said. Putting stuff out there is one thing but pretending it's gospel is quite another.

    Fad items of Bushcraft

Mine was off centre from new. I wouldn't be criticising it if I'd bent it!

    Fad items of Bushcraft

It's the handle on the Laplander that I hate. Too slippery, not canted enough and on mine the blade isn't centred in the slot so it won't shut without being pushed over. I have £4 saws from Lidl which I prefer. Just my preference though and I wouldn't call them a fad.

    Fad items of Bushcraft

The Bahco vs Silky debate rages on... Other options are available, they just haven't been marketed as "bushcraft".

Sleeping bags for larger (fat!) person

The Berghaus Indulge has been superb for my girthsome self. Available on Amazon, so you can read the reviews there too. It is very bulky though.
