Joe Robinet had a serious accident

Joe can swap notes with Junkyard Fox on living with a barely functioning hand. Wishing them all a swift and lasting recovery.

Voluntarily handing in a large blade to the UK police

To answer the second part of your original question: you'll have a very hard/impossible time cutting it up with a junior hacksaw.

    Forest schools are a failure.

That was my experience of the scouts around the late 1990s. Basically just playing ball games in a village hall.

    The other half - Handles.

I've carved my Opinel out of necessity because back when I was a reckless teen I broke the tip off so the blade rests further in and conceals the nail nick. Modifying SAKs? There's not much meat on the scales to play with but people certainly fit their own custom scales.

    The other half - Handles.

By and large I prefer something pretty simple in terms of shape. One of my favourites is the handle on the Brisa Kephart which I have never felt the desire to change. Other favourites are the Camillus Bushcrafter and also the classic puuko style. Funny you should mention the SAK because I've...

How do businesses still get this so utterly wrong?

    YOYTi. (Why titanium?)

I put together a pot, mug, frying pan and meths stove combo in SS and it was heavy enough to convince me to switch to Ti. The difference is huge. However, if you're going down the lightweight route it only really makes sense to marry it up with other lightweight gear. Expense/price/value is...

    Green energy :D

It's easy to get lost in the "wow that looks clever" and lose track of the bottom line, ie what's the cost of the energy it generates across its lifespan?

The new breed of spammer - Use of AI - example

Is it the passive voice? I never got to grips with linguistics but no one really talks like that, even me after a skinful.

    Government emergency website

An extra header tank or 2 in the loft might be the neatest solution for extra water storage, with all necessary allowances for the extra weight of course.

    Po-tay-toes.

The blue mushroom trays are good for this. Place the potatoes so they are not touching and the occasional rotter shouldn't take the rest with it. Use any damaged ones first.

    Car sleeping?

Vehicle prices have risen such in recent years that I find what I want and what I want to pay no longer overlap on the Venn diagram. The Ford Galaxy comes damn close though, being nearly van sized and available with a thrifty diesel engine.

    What are you growing?

I've got 100 elephant garlic plants looking promising. Won't be long until harvest time.

    Yup, I've never eaten it.

    COTW! secret spot.....

There's a big one that comes out every year on a yew stump where I work. It looks slightly unreal. Other than that I've rarely ever seen them. Perhaps the woodland around here doesn't suit them, most of it being chestnut coppice.

    Cutting and tidying pampas grass?

A good hedgcutter will trim the leaves back or if you want to cut it really close then a chainsaw becomes the better tool but it will blunt the chain pretty easily once you get into the humus. Burning it is technically fine but it doesn't look pretty.

What to use as tinder in different parts of Europe

Not even on ash trees? I think there will be millions of them this year, looking at all the ash die back :-/
