Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

I myself never bought any Bark River knives. I handled about half a dozen in the earlier days of the forum. I found them rather heavy and and the handles a bit boxy for my liking. They looked great, but I didn't find they felt as good as they looked. There was brief talk of Mike Steward...

Bark River Knives (BRKT) out of business - Chinese blades marked Made in USA

Heads up anyone looking at a Bark River knife from recent manufacturing. News broke this weekend that they have closed down having been selling knives made using Chinese blade kits, with modifications, as USA made. Steel marked as CPM154 or 154CM being 9CR18MOV...

Thread locked and all participating posts removed. A member began an argument with the moderators and objecting to my last remark when I locked the thread at 1:11am, has threatened legal action. A member (No1) asked whether the advice to use only Goods and Services when paying by PayPal could...

Scam Warning: Account Hacking and PayPal Friends and Family

Mark, Thank you for your wishes of luck, they are appreciated but unnecessary. I cannot recall when you last sold via the forum, so your concerns over your personal profits seem hypothetical at best. In contrast, despite also having many happy customers, you have had multiple instances over...

Scam Warning: Account Hacking and PayPal Friends and Family

I for one do get your point @HillBill. It was a prevalent scam on eBay a while back (might still be…dunno) to receive goods, say they were faulty, demand refund, and return random junk. Receive a laptop…return a brick and get a refund…make off with laptop. I had someone receive some...

Scam Warning: Account Hacking and PayPal Friends and Family

It seems, these days on this forum, the scam of wanting to be sent money for nothing is more prevalent than the scam of wanting goods for nothing. The former gives instant funds while the latter leaves the scammer with an item which they may not actually want. This might be different if the...

    Knives for beginners?

Mod hat on. A number of posts have been removed from this thread. Some may be returned when there has been time to separate them from that which will not be returned. Importing arguments and irritations from other threads was not cool.

@HillBill, regardless of anything else, you are perpetuating the confusion that exists about facts vs theory. This is just one of many sources that explain it. “A fact is a basic observation that is repeatedly confirmed and considered true in science, while a law is an empirical description...

    Knives for beginners?

I never warmed to mine, it had quite a steep secondary bevel that did not cut wood well and required a lot of coarse stone work to remove, also, less pointy, so less good for carving and detail work. Good for splitting wood though.

I am not entirely sure what you mean about bold full stops. I just used the forums "List" formatting option to create a bullet point list. Nothing new there. There are a whole bunch of formatting tools available on the forum. If you are able to add smiley faces, you can format the post. It...

    Knives for beginners?

From a design standpoint, the suggested knives score well because: Blades around the 4 inch length are short enough to be controllable for carving and long enough for slicing Blade depth is enough for a little belly to help with food prep, skinning, carving, but still have a pronounced point...

Hello and welcome to the forum. What do you think bush crafting is? Put that way it sounds like topiary…definitely not axe work :cool3: All joking aside about the problems involved in defining “bushcraft”, and the legal aspects of walking around with an axe…. I have three Gransfors Mini...
