    Shaggy goat skin anyone?

Le Prevo had a few hair-on goatskins available last I saw in the clearance section. Dont' know how 'shaggy' they are (steady on now Rik!) but they are very helpful if you phone or email.

B.B.C. Armistice Day Coverage--Is that it??

I was working indoors all day and listened to a lot of 'rememberance' programming on Auntie -- BBC1 and R4. The scope was quite impressive, including some of the more forgotten conflicts and contributions -- Women's Land Army, Auxilliary Home Guard (the secret British Resistance/guerilla...

    throwing knife

I didn't see that he was case hardening. However supposedly mild steel does harden these days unless you get something specific (like ASE 1010). One engineer/smith claims it's due to the odd bit of tool steel making its way into the scrap remelts. Not blade hardness, but certainly enough to...

    save me from......

You could try... not watching the TV? IF it weren't for the fact I'm having to move back with my family I wouldn't have the damned thing in the house. Perhaps you need a hobby! :D :-p

    Drinking chocolate

I don't often go there but they should have it. Well, Nido is made by Nestle so it sould well be the same stuff. I got in from work the other day and pulled a tin of Milo out my bag. "Wow Milo, I haven't seen that since I lived in New Zealand!" says mum.

    Drinking chocolate

The little Tesco in town doesn't have it but the Sainsubry's in the Guildhall centre does. Nido is powdered whole milk.

    Bahco Chisel Knife

If I had one I'd have forgotten it's not a bevel chisel and 'guided' the blade with my fingers within 24 hours of purchasing.

    nails

The heads certainly look like they were made in a punched nail heading plate. Not sure about the 'points' though, my reading has indicated that hand-wrought nails tended to have a continuous square taper to a slightly blunt point. These all appear to have cut points. Perhaps the result of a...

    Waxed cotton cagoule

Looks interesting but I think it lacks flexibility compared with a waxed cotton coat/jacket -- can't open the front (for venting or accessing kit on belt/in shirt pockets) and there's no poacher/game pocket. Plus I tend to distrust zips.

    ancient telegraph machine

Well it's certainly interesting but I think he's missing a few things. Namely a power source, a condutor and a sounder/indicator. Or to put it another way he has not made a telegraph but a telegraph key.

A bit of advice on bending a file tang please.

The only two workable solutions I can think of are (a) leave it as a partial-stick-tang or (b) chop it off at the shoulder and consider it a 2-pin partial-tang knife.
