Good tip :) Thx, not having that oil to hand was thinking of using some 501 stuff I have laying around. Cannot say if it is stainless steel or not. So long ago I bought them.
Cheers
Ahh ok, clever idea that loop. I was thinking I might have to attach another as the loop at the top is not that big.
Thanks for the advise on wetting the sheath. I guess I'll wet it for about an hour, insert the knife and leave it over night to shape/dry, remove the knife, dry more and then...
Hi all,
I just purchased this from ebay

To use with my Mora type wooden handle knife.
The sheath looks quite good although a bit rough around the edges. It is also very...
Hello all,
For many years I've had a number of the water bottle pouches to hold the 58 pattern bottle.
Something I've never been able to discover is what is the tube type inner compartment for?
Not a great pic but like this: (fabric/compartment between wrist and fingers)...
That's nice although cannot find that lid on Heinnies?
Anyone have you a link for it?
I'v already got a couple of the pathfinder snap on lids. They fit some old French mugs I have.
Cheers

The thing that always...
Thanks all for the info. As ever much to dwell upon :)
One reason I was thinking of using the rubber tube was as a sort of extra guard/water repeller but mainly I thought better for extra grip if used/held when using gloves in the winter time as well of course for grip with bare hands.
I...
Hello peoples :)
I've now a few different knives/machetes with pine/wooden handles.
I've never treated them with anything and am about to start some work on them ie: sanding down and shaping to meet the metal part of the tang.
Some are cheaper units and some although others would not...
Found, bought and just received these:

Was a bit of a punt but for £4 for 40 and now happy I got them.
They are like a dry bag. Pop in your item, roll the metal strip down and fold the ends...

This is what primarily gave me the oomph to have my lavvu modified, plus just some useful info as well.
Bulky as in the size of a normal roll up mat. You can fold but easier to roll those and you an also squish it with some straps. Weight, surprisingly you would hardly notice.
Thanks for the comments guys.
I should have mentioned that I also do have a regular army roll mat as well. Another plan was to sandwich this between the silver sheet or just on top or just on the bottom.
I've heard (not tested) that silver side up can draw your heat out..meaning your body...
Hello all,
In part thought it was good to start a debate on this to which I also hope to gleam advice :o
Myself I have a quite wide and long el cheapo thin mat which has a silver film on both sides that I can fold over once or twice to make a nice thick mat (still with silver on both...
