Hello all,
I read or watched something a while back about the advantages of wearing 2 pairs of socks in your boots. Mainly to help stop blisters if I recall correctly.
So now am trying to find more info but am finding quite a lot of conflicting info. Only 1 pair for warmth, 2 pairs =...
What put me on to Dyneema myself was this youtube from Tac Blades
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdTqIAkT4qA&t=265s
Have bought some in olive/green and works great. Only thing I think that needs to be considered is using it in wet or slippery conditions may require some good gloves.
I do not want to make the holes. I need the blades with the pins already there. If I need to make my own pins was also looking for help on type of material to buy to make the pins etc.
Thanks :)
No worries ;) I guess you can say it is like a junior hack saw blade:
Like this:

Take no notice of the actual blade here except for the ends with the soldered/fixed pin at both...
Hi all,
Well as the title says
I recently bough from the bay this:

I was mainly thinking usage for occasional use and of course compactness.
So I receive this and am quite impressed...
Thanks for the advice all.
No hose outside so I think this Bergen will be getting a shower in the bathroom (will still give it a once over with a the vac though first). Just hope the Mrs is ok with sharing her shower time with this smelly thing instead of me ;)
Hello chaps and chapesses
I just received a second hand olive green 1988 British army 100l bergen from an auction site..
In great near perfect condition but it looks like a barn find. Covered it lots of dust and particles. My skin just gets itchy when I touch it :)
So am wondering...
Hello all,
Sorry I did not see this sooner. Am living in North London and work in West. Would be glad if I'm in country to stroll along to your next meet. Never really met up with anyone else before, so will be quite nice to see others.
Cheers
Thank you for all the great ideas. I like the idea of the Vango poles but not the cost ;) Any reason fro mk5 and not others?
Am still umming and ahhing about taking a punt on the avalanche poles. If they are still the same (or close to) the wilko ones in weight, well at least they can by...
Yep that is always an option but sadly that is all it can be in my mind, an option. I cannot guarantee I'll be near woods or if able to find suitable branches.
Hello wise ones
Since Bilmo put me onto using an A-frame with my lavvu I've been search for suitable poles. (2 poles tied together, poles on the outside and the lavvu hanging underneath/between the poles)
So far I am using the extendable washing line poles you can get from Wilko. They do the...
I've bought a couple of these and mightly impressed:

Pros:

Hello all,
I've just bought a couple as backups and am now reading up more and more on them.
I've read some very old posts on other sites about adding water to meths/ethanol as it can create more heat and less soot on the burner and pots. Some people say add a spoonful direct to the burner...
Hey all,
Am a regular viewer of lifehacker and I found this instructional.
http://www.lifehacker.co.uk/2017/01/20/gut-fish-the-japanese-way-with-a-pair-of-chopsticks
Got to be honest never been keen on gutting fish...slicing open the belly, fingers in and pull all the gunk out.
Cheers
