    Phone photography

I have an A3 canvas on the wall taken by an iPhone and it’s really good, I also have one taken on my Nikon, that canvas is about 3x2 foot and as also very clear. I never thought about blowing up a camera phone picture, however I’m not so sure anymore.

Slightly larger diameter (17cm) wood gas stove

I use a small stove from amazon, I really like it but haven’t tried it with wood pellets, so I need to get some. I made a big one years back from a 5ltr paint tin, a large dog food tin and in inverted Frey Bentos tin with three bolts in the top to stand my pot on. That worked wonderfully, but...

    *The* Gift-It-On Thread

They are “slips” to put your note book and pen in. Keeps your paper neat where you’re out and about. Not much use to me, but I’m sure they will be to someone. Also hand made which is nice in a commercial world.

Input for a new Knife Design

You’re a lucky lad, looking forward to seeing a finished product. The only think I would request is to keep the price down.

Is a leatherman skeletool legal carry?

Probably none, however doesn’t mean that you couldn’t be. In this day and age of the papers blowing everything out of proportion.

Is a leatherman skeletool legal carry?

The offence actually comes under Section 139 of the criminal justice act 1988, and the correct offence working is “offence of having artical with blade or point in a public place” A folding knife with a sub 3” blade doesn’t fall into this. It is for all knives which do not come under...

Is a leatherman skeletool legal carry?

Hi there daveO, I do get where your coming from, you’re innocent until proven guilty, yes that is correct, however the police only have to provide evidence to the courts that you were in possession of the artical. It would still be upto the accused to provide evidence of a defence.

Is a leatherman skeletool legal carry?

I always find the views on knife carry interesting. The fact is that any knife with a locking blade is illegal to carry in public without lawful reason, as is one with a blade longer than 3 inches. If you use it for a legitimate reason, such as for cutting a rope if you’re a climber, that’s...

    Logging the old way.

I suppose in modern logging, the demand is too high to allow this process, whereby someone bulding a house had the time back then.

    Logging the old way.

I read a post on social media about how trees are prepared in old times, thought it was rather interesting... In today’s logging and lumber industry, it is the new normal to treat nearly every piece of lumber used with various chemicals in an attempt to preserve the wood. However, this is often...

Hammock under blanket/quilt, are they any good?

I’ve got a snugpak UB and a DD hammock. I thinks it’s wonderful, and having tried it with a mat, I much prefer the UB. I made one for the boys hammock out of a £5 sleeping bag, it’s blue and looks a little bit pants, however he’s never complained about the cold. However all these things do add...

    Under a fiver!

I really need to spend more time looking in charity shops, I’ve dropped lots of stuff there over the years, but never find the time to stay for a look around.

    Under a fiver!

What’s the best bit of kit you’ve have got for less than £5? I like to get the odd bit of kit from time to time, however as like most money is tight and bushcraft kit is way down on the priority list, apparently feeding the children and paying the mortgage is more important than a new tent. So...

    JALT (just another Lavvu thread!)

Two dog bowls, they clip together one on top of the other, with a small hole in for feeding the fire in the front, and a flue hole at the top. Only ever saw a photo of it, but looked quite cosy. You clearly can’t get much wood in, but having a small fire helps. When they aren’t in use, they...

    JALT (just another Lavvu thread!)

This was his set up, even has a small dog bowl stove. Photo is from MadDave, I’m sure he won’t mind me using it.

    JALT (just another Lavvu thread!)

A friend had a modded on in the Arctic. He used them as ends, with a rectangle panel sew in. The two ends stay up as semi circles, and the rectangle fills in the gap. You can then open the front, pole it out to give a covered area, with zips to close it down.

Bivi, Bivvy, Bivvie, Tent, Camping poles?

On a recent scout camp I used my 3x3 tarp with a single pole. Never done this before, and it worked rather well...
