Absolutely yes to this.
Most of countries we visited in South East Asia were easy to find accommodation in. No need to book in advance - unless you hit somewhere there is a festival/ celebration going on.
Our trip was a little macabre as we visited areas affected by wars.
Death Valley...
I did 4 months in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malysia and Singapore.
Before going on to Australia, New Zealand then the Americas.
Travelled for 12 months in total.
Is there anything specific you want to know?
Best advice would be wherever you are in the world - don't eat boiled chicken...
I can see your point with this but I think I'm looking for something a bit more tenty than tarpy.
After the Night Of A Thousand Chiggers I prefer sleeping off the ground and like my creature comforts. Those creature comforts being no Chiggers.
Right so I'm turning to the collective for some ideas.
For many years I've fancied the idea of a Baker style tent - yes yes I know another Baker tent thread.

Bushcrafting for me for the next several months is likely to be get there in the dark. Set something up quick and...
I’m starting to get back into bushcraft after a 10 / 15 year hiatus. All the second nature skills I had back in the day I’m re-learning as an older bloke. For example:
When I get a splinter now the first thing I look for is reading glasses not tweezers.
Stealth camping to me is getting into a...

I’ve never had any issues with DD stuff in fairness. Like I say these 2 tarps were used across multiple summers, as sun shades for the kids. They took a real battering and survived countless storms without damage.
I’ve just...
The garden set ups never had a ridge line. The loops were tied out with Amsteel.
The 3x4.5m when it died was over a ridge line secured by small carabiners and prusik knots.
The 3 x 3m failed along the seem along the loops but it was tied with Amsteel.
The 3 x 4.5 went in the centre towards the loops.
Both old tarps and both used in the garden over many summers so I would suspect UV light took it's toll.
Generally I tell people I sleep in the woods with a load of strangers that are armed to the teeth with knives and axes that are sharp enough to shave with.
Usually if that doesn’t give people the willies enough I then go on to tell them that - people tie themselves to trees and cook things in...
I’m watching this thread with quite a degree of interest having recently been reintroduced to the joys of Nescafé 2 in 1 coffee at the weekend.
In 15 years that stuff is still as grim as I remember it. It’s like drinking aeroplane coffee without the nice holiday at the end of it.
