    Outdoor show

After having said that we wouldn't bother going back, we got a couple of free tickets and gave it one last chance this year. It has shrunk even more than the last time we went. Even with the free entry it wasn't worth the 5 hour return drive and the £8 parking. A pity really...

    Ventile drovers coat

Only one; horribly expensive. As a ventile fan meself, I think a full length coat would be impractical. Once it got soaked it would be very heavy and stiff and a pig to get dried out. I could of course be wrong.:D

    Summer hats for UK use

Tilley hat for me too; nice big grommets to let the air circulate. If it gets too hot, I soak a big handkerchief in water and wear that under the hat.

What is the most important feature you look for in a knife

Another "Other". "All of the above" would have been helpful.:)

    off to the desert

A lot of good advice there. This is one time when cotton comes into it's own. The air is so dry that your sweat evaporates from the cotton and helps to cool you down. Broad brimmed hat, with a BIG hanky or a white scarf soaked in water under it. Shemagh for sure; great for blown sand...

    'Dogs as alternatives to knives'

Of course not and This won't help. Idiots like that judge make the imposition of pointless laws on law abiding people even harder to stomach.:( PS: I know it was a Daily Wail link, sorry.

    'Dogs as alternatives to knives'

I would use the law as it stands. Get rid of "Targets" for the Police and get their pen pushers out on the street. Zero tolerance for threatening behaviour; assault; causing fear and alarm, all using dogs. While they're at it they can clamp down on all the other anti social activity that...
