    What did you buy today?

Yes - thanks. I have an EPIRB on my boat (Blue Water Catamaran) but wanted the PLB for hillwalking etc (mainly in the UK). I don't know if you are aware but 121.5 ceased being monitored by satellite 10 years ago (1st Feb 2009) - it is now only 'listened' to for RDF once a SAR 406 beacon has...

    What did you buy today?

Not very 'Bushcrafty' but at the price I couldn't say NO. A Global Distress 'Personal Location beacon'. In the event of an accident it sends a GPS location signal up to satellites, which then forwards the location to your nearest SAR centre, who then come to find you. You register it with...

    Planning Lightening my load

Whilst the car windscreen 'mat' may give some protection I doubt it will be as much as you think. You will get no 'reflected' heat from it as you will be lying on it and squashing it - you only get reflected heat if there is an air-gap, such as when you drape a foil blanket over the shoulders...

    What did you buy today?

Not so much a 'purchase' as a 'forage'. Out walking 'tother day on an 8 mile circular route when I noticed that some 'stuff' had been dumped in a picnic area*, on closer inspection this included 2 of heavyweight 'Carp Fisherman's Bed-Chairs'. Both were broken but with different faults, but...

    Import tax

I think it would be a bit over £70 Not only do you have Import Duty to add, (8.5%) but also VAT (at 20%) AND VAT on the freight cost (at 20%) And - The carriers 'surcharge' of £8 to do the paperwork and collect your money. Here is an example worked on importation of a Knife from Japan...

    What did you buy today?

You must drink an awful lot before retiring, or, spend a long time in bed, to require 2 bottles.

Sleep mat for a painful back

My DownMat 7M takes 78 pumps from 'rolled up' to max inflation. You are supposed to wait a couple of minutes from un-rolling to allow the foam in the pump to expand - I didn't so maybe it could be a few pumps less.
