    Polish poncho/laavu

I've only used mine a couple of times. Mine was not waxed, I don't think they should be, and I didn't bother to fabsil it and it was still perfectly water proof. Tested with a hose and had a light natural shower, but nothing inside was wet.

    Formatting a SD

Did you take the SD card out of the camera and it into the computer? Maybe try plugging the camera (with the SD) into the computer using a USB cable?

    Planning Lightening my load

Ah, yes as a tarp overhead I agree, too small. I've got an exclusive [with both weights of liner] and started using it as an underquilt. Even the original should work well as a wind resistance barrier to stop the wind [and heavy splashing rain] from whipping under you to rob you of your warmth...

    Phishing scam

I use different passwords for everything - I write them down in a little book * - they do have certain things in common. Often I use everyday words, fruits, vegetables, places, colours etc, However I am very bad at spelling and even in some cases intentionally spell things incorrectly :) -...

    Phishing scam

The best one [funniest] I've seen is a co worker got an e-mailing stating he was dead, and all his possessions were being given away along with an unspecified large sum of money he didn't know he had :). If it was in fact the case he was still alive, could he please get in touch to claim his...

On Dealing with the Water board...

There are those 'eco' friendly ones which use less water, but to shift anything more substantial the just urine you have to flush more than once :)

On Dealing with the Water board...

In Scotland the flat water rate is around 360 per year [domestic water and sewerage] and is charged / paid along with council tax. You can apparently get one or either metered. Many round me have private water supply and septic tanks [living in the middle of nowhere] so do not get charged...

    Hydration bladders

I've used cheap water bladders. The connections can be a little leaky, but easily sorted. 1st one with a couple of cable ties to cinch the tube round the opening, 2nd one a bit of ptfe tape round the thread where the tube screwed into the bladder at the base. Sizes have been different, both 3L...

    *The* Gift-It-On Thread

I believe we are awaiting an item to be put up by Keith beef. He did mention he'd be away for awhile. The tarp was accepted earlier and madriverrob was just showing it in use :) I have a kathmandu bivi bag, bought when I was a teenager, has a hole in the bottom but can't bring myself to throw...

Regrets - The things you gave away or sold but wish you hadn't

Not sold or given away, but in a moment of stupidity I put down a SAK on a rock at the beach, forgot to pick it up, only realised later once the tide had risen :(. OK it's only a SAK, but I'd had it for a number of years and my wife had bought it for me :(
